Abstract: An electrode humidifier device having a cartridge and a reconfigurable steam nozzle, connected to the cartridge that may be changeable between a direct and a remote mounting. Fill and drain valves on a manifold may be operated to add or drain water, respectively, in the cartridge. A sensor may indicate a water level in the cartridge. A controller may be connected to the sensor, and the fill and drain valves. A steam output capacity of the cartridge may be maintained at a predetermined magnitude by controlling the level of water with a controller. The cartridge may have one or more handles for easily inserting or removing the cartridge in a housing. The manifold may be installed in the drain pan for easier cartridge replacement. The humidifier device may be directly mounted on an air duct of a heating system or can be installed remotely.

Abstract: A wall mountable connector for securing a thermostat to a wall is disclosed. The wall mountable connector may include built in jumper functionality. In some cases, the wall mountable connector may include a plurality of wiring terminals as well as structure enabling an installer or other person to easily electrically connect (e.g. jumper) one or more of the wiring terminals in order to accommodate different equipment installations. For example, in some cases there may be a desire to electrically connect (e.g. jumper) or disconnect certain wiring terminals that correspond to transformer input terminals, which in some equipment installations are intended to be independently powered while in others they are not.

Abstract: An HVAC controller and/or server may be programmed to determine if ventilation of a building is desired based, at least in part, on the one or more user-specified air quality thresholds stored in a memory, and one or more of a measure of indoor air quality and a measure of outdoor air quality. The air quality parameter threshold may relate to an air quality index, an air pollutant concentration, a smog alert, a pollen count, a dew point, a chance of precipitation, and/or the like. In addition, the HVAC controller and/or server may take into account current or future weather conditions when determining the ventilation needs of a building. Upon determining that ventilation is needed or recommended, the HVAC controller may send or display a message to the user. The message may recommendation that the user open a window or operate a ventilation system, as desired.

Abstract: An HVAC actuator coupleable to an HVAC component is disposed in or at an insulated duct. The HVAC actuator may include a housing and a taping flange. The taping flange may be spaced from the outer surface of the duct and adjacent to an outer surface of an insulated layer of the duct when the HVAC actuator is coupled to the HVAC component, and may be configured to facilitate taping of the HVAC actuator to the outer surface of the insulating layer. It may be shaped to provide a front-facing surface that is suitable for receiving tape to provide a seal between the taping flange and the outer surface of the insulating layer. In some cases, the taping flange may extend outward from the housing around the entire perimeter of the housing. The taping flange may be formed integrally with the housing, or it formed separately and coupled to the housing.

Abstract: A system and approach for remote reading, setting and control of devices such as thermostats. A phone, such as a smartphone, a gateway and a cloud may be incorporated relative to interaction with the device or devices. The gateway may have a hub that has bluetooth communication capabilities with the device. The hub may be connected to a router that in turn is connected to a cloud in a wireless or wired manner. The phone may communicate with the cloud to achieve interaction with the device. The hub may also handle WiFi communications. The gateway may instead be a phone that contains an app which lets operate as a gateway for communications with the cloud. There may be one or more devices that are a part of one or more home area networks that are connected to a gateway via bluetooth and WiFi, and in turn connected to the cloud.

Abstract: An HVAC actuator includes an output shaft rotatable between first and second end positions and a drive mechanism to selectively drive the output shaft toward the first end position. The actuator may include a light source within its housing and a window to provide visibility of the light from the light source to an observer. An aperture member may be situated between the light source and the window and be configured to move as the output shaft is rotated. The aperture member may have spaced openings that transmit the light to the window at a plurality of positions of the output shaft such that the aperture member may cause the appearance of blinking of the light through the window as the output shaft is rotated toward the first end position. One of the openings may be configured to be in registration with the light source at the first end position.

Abstract: An HVAC actuator may include a rotatable output shaft, a drive mechanism configured to selectively drive the output shaft, two or more wiring terminals, and a removable blocking tab configured to block wire attachment to at least one of the two or more wiring terminals. When the removable tab is removed, wire attachment to the previously blocked at least one wire terminals may no longer blocked. The removable block tab may be a break-away tab. The HVAC actuator may include a housing enclosing the drive mechanism, and the break-away tab may be integral to the housing.
