    摘要: A diagnostic apparatus for a continuously variable transmission the speed ratio and/or the rate of variation in the speed ratio of which are controlled by a shift-regulating device controlled by command signals from a control system. The diagnostic apparatus, which checks if the speed ratio is normally controlled, comprises: a detecting device for detecting an actual speed ratio and/or an actual rate of variation in the speed ratio; a memory storing data for determining normal ranges of the speed ratio and/or normal ranges of the rate of variation in the speed ratio, the normal ranges corresponding to shifting conditions of the transmission which are established by the shift-regulating device according to the command signals; and a judging device for selecting one of the normal ranges of the speed ratio, and/or one of the normal ranges of the rate of variation in the speed ratio, based on the command signals, the judging device checking whether the detected actual speed ratio and/or the detected actual rate of variation in the speed ratio fall within the selected normal ranges.

    摘要: System and method for controlling a continuously variable transmission having a pair of variable-diameter pulleys disposed on input and output shafts, and a corresponding pair of hydraulic cylinders to change effective diameters of the pulleys. A speed ratio control valve assembly is used to control flows of a fluid to and from one of the cylinders. The control valve assembly is selectively placed in one of three states consisting of a first state for feeding the fluid to the one cylinder, a second state for discharging the fluid from the one cylinder, and a third state for restricting the flow to or from the one cylinder. The first and third states are alternately established while a ratio of an operating time in the first state to that in the third state is changed, for controlling a rate of flow of the fluid into the one cylinder, and the second and third states are alternately established while a ratio of operating time in the second state to that in the third state is changed, for controlling a rate of flow of the fluid from the one cylinder, whereby the speed ratio of the transmission is continuously varied by the one cylinder under control of the speed-ratio control valve assembly.

    摘要: In a four wheel drive vehicle, wherein either a state where differential action between front wheels and rear wheels is restricted or a permitted state can be selected, the differential rate is calculated during stable running conditions, and, when the differential rate is greater than or equal to a predetermined value, the restriction of differential action is prohibited. As a result, power circulation can be prevented when there is a difference in effective radius between the front wheels and rear wheels due to, e.g., use of a temper tire, mounting of chains on the tires, or the like.
