Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for production of anisotropic coke from a hydrocarbon feedstock and a system for producing the same. More particularly, the present invention relates to a thermal cracking of heavy petroleum residue producing petroleum coke and lighter hydrocarbon products. The invented process utilizes a novel scheme for production of a premium quality coke from primarily, a clarified oil feedstock. Clarified oil from fluid catalytic cracking unit is routed through a process scheme comprising a separator column, hydro-treatment section and an aromatic extraction section to create an ad-mix of effluents which form the feedstock to a thermal cracking unit. Premium quality anisotropic coke is produced in the thermal cracker reactor drums under tailor made process conditions employing the said feedstock.

Abstract: The present subject matter describes a method and apparatus for operating a delayed coker. The method comprises contacting a vapour produced in a delayed coker-drum with a catalyst maintained in form of a bed, and maintaining a level of said catalyst-bed within pre-defined limits during catalytic-cracking of the vapour. Thereafter, the cracked-vapour is routed to a coker-fractionator column to trigger conversion into one or more hydrocarbon products.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for converting the waste plastic along with the petroleum residue feedstock in a Delayed Coker unit employed in refineries. The invented process aims to convert any type of waste plastic including polystyrene, polypropylene, polyethylene etc. including metal additized multilayer plastics along with the petroleum residue material from crude oil refining such as reduced crude oil, vacuum residue etc. Value added light distillate products like motor spirit, LPG, middle distillates etc. are produced upon co-conversion in the invented process and is recovered and treated along with the products of thermal cracking of hydrocarbon residues. The residual metals in the metal additized plastics upon co-conversion in the invented process will be deposited in the solid petroleum coke.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for in-situ regeneration of spent ion exchange resin catalyst used in the dimerization of olefins, etherification and alkylation processes by various impurities coming from feed streams and heavier oligomers forms as byproducts. The process involves backwashing with water which is followed by the step of naphtha washing. Naphtha washing involves filling the reactor with paraffinic naphtha and soaking the catalyst bed in naphtha. The step of naphtha washing is followed by naphtha circulation in the reactor. The last step involves treatment with diluted HCl solution wherein deposited impurities at the ion exchange sites are removed using diluted HCl. The process achieves up to 80% regeneration of spent catalysts.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a process and an apparatus for conversion of waste plastic pyrolysis oil into value added products, wherein, the pyrolysis oil is produced from waste plastics by utilizing HCGO as a preheating stream. Abstract: The present invention relates to a sequential thermo-chemical treatment along with adsorption-based pre-treatment process for residual oils having a very high naphthenic acid content. First stage of the process is a thermal pre-treatment step which results into generation of hydrocarbon stream with a reduced naphthenic acid content due to high temperature. In second stage of pre-treatment, generated hydrocarbon stream from stage-1 is subjected to esterification reaction with alcohol, such as methanol, to further reduce the TAN of hydrocarbon stream. After recovery of alcohol from the reaction mixture, depending on TAN reduction required reaction mixture may be subjected to an adsorption stage, third stage pre-treatment, where an adsorbent mixture comprising of FCC spent catalyst is used to adsorb the TAN of feed hydrocarbon stream. The treated hydrocarbon stream is then co-processed with DCU feed stock for producing lighter hydrocarbons.
