    摘要: A catalytic process is disclosed for oxidizing cycloalkanes directly to form, in a single step, a mixture containing the corresponding alcohol and ketone. In particular, the invention relates to oxidizing a cycloalkane by contacting it with a source of oxygen and a catalytic amount of a heterogeneous catalyst. The catalysts of the invention include gold (including gold sol-gel compounds) and sol-gel compounds containing particular combinations of Cr, Co, Zr, Ta, Si, Mg, Nb, Al and Ti, wherein certain of those metals have been combined with an oxide, such as an inorganic matrix of hydroxides or oxides, or combinations thereof. The catalysts may also optionally be supported on a suitable support member.

    摘要: An improved process for decomposing alkyl or aromatic hydroperoxides to form a decomposition reaction mixture containing the corresponding alcohol and ketone. The improvement relates to decomposing the hydroperoxide by contacting the hydroperoxide with a catalytic amount of a heterogeneous catalyst of Nb or Hf hydroxide or oxide. The improvement also relates to decomposing a secondary hydroperoxide by contacting the secondary hydroperoxide with a catalytic amount of a heterogeneous catalyst of Zr or Ti hydroxide or oxide. The catalysts may optionally be supported on SiO2, Al2O3, carbon or TiO2.

    摘要: Carbon monoxide and carbonyl sulfide emissions are reduced in manufacturing processes, including titanium tetrachloride production processes. Gas is contacted with CO, COS, and an oxygen-containing gas with a suitable catalyst. The catalyst may be a metal oxide catalyst containing bismuth, cobalt and nickel, a xerogel or aerogel catalyst containing Au, Rh, Ru and Co in aluminum oxide/oxyhydroxide matrices, or a supported metal catalyst that contains at least one metal from the group Pd, Rh, Ru and Cu. In the latter case, the catalyst support is contains alumina or carbon. A catalyst composite of Au, Rh, Ru and Cr, and cerium oxide and lanthanum oxide may also be used.
