摘要: A modular implant system and method for dynamic stabilization of a spine segment that can be implanted in a minimally invasive posterior approach. In one embodiment, the implant device has an inferior body portion configured for fixation in a sacrum or ilium and a superior body portion configured for engaging one or more spinous processes to limit extension and optionally flexion while off-loading a spine segment. The implant system can be configured to stabilize a spine segment, re-distribute loads with the spine segment and still allow spine lateral bending and torsion. Besides being far less invasive than other procedures, the system and method is reversible and adjustable post-implant.

摘要: The present disclosure relates to bone cement formulations that have an extended working time for use in vertebroplasty procedures and other osteoplasty procedures together with cement injectors that include energy delivery systems for on-demand control of cement viscosity and flow parameters. The bone cement formulations may include a liquid component having at least one monomer and a non-liquid component including polymer particles and benzoyl peroxide (BPO). The non-liquid component may be further configured to allow controlled exposure of the BPO to the liquid monomer so as to enable control of the viscosity of the bone cement composition.

摘要: The present invention relates in certain embodiments to systems for treating vertebral compression fractures. In one embodiment, an elongated sleeve defines a passageway therethrough, and has a threaded portion configured to engage bone. The sleeve includes a seal configured to allow instrument exchange through the passageway and into the interior of the vertebra to perform at least one medical procedure, such as injection of bone cement into the vertebral body.

摘要: The present invention relates in certain embodiments to medical devices for treating osteoplasty procedures such as vertebral compression fractures. More particularly, embodiments of the invention relate to instruments and methods for controllably restoring vertebral body height by controlling the geometry of fill material introduced into cancellous bone. An exemplary system utilizes Rf energy in combination a conductive bone fill material for polymerizing the surface of the inflow plume to control the geometry of the fill material and the application of force caused by inflows of fill material. In another embodiment, method of treating bone includes injecting a volume of fill material into a bone and selectively modifying a viscosity of a selected portion of the bone filler to control the direction of flow of the fill material within the bone. A system for treating bone using this method includes an introducer for delivering fill material into the bone and an energy source selectively coupleable to the fill material to alter the viscosity of the fill material as it flows out of the introducer.

摘要: A bone cement injector used for treating vertebral compression fractures has diamond-like coatings or amorphous carbon based coatings with a high hardness and a low coefficient of friction on an interior flow channel thereof. Such a bone cement injector includes a sensor system for sensing retrograde bone cement flows that can migrate along a fractured path toward a pedicle and risk leakage into the spinal canal. An energy delivery system can be coupled to the injector for applying energy to tissue and/or to bone cement that migrates in a retrograde direction, wherein the energy polymerizes the cement and/or coagulates tissue to inhibit further retrograde cement migration.
