    摘要: Disclosed is a liquid coating composition, useful for making a chip resistant coating, comprising a binder of: a first and a second urethane resin each containing terminal, reactive ethylenically unsaturated groups. Each urethane resin is prepared by reacting components comprising (A) an isocyanate-terminated prepolymer which is the product of reacting an organic polyisocyanate with an organic polyol with (B) an isocyanate reactive group-containing unsaturated monomer selected from hydroxyalkyl acrylates, hydroxyalkyl methacrylates and hydroxyalkyl acrylamides. The organic polyol for the first urethane resin has a hydroxyl functionality of 3 or more; the organic polyol for the second urethane resin has a hydroxyl functionality of less than three; and the average functionality of the polyols utilized for the first and second urethane resins is less than three.Also disclosed is a method of making a cured chip resistant, coating.

    摘要: A liquid, hydroxyl functional graft copolymer is prepared by the vinyl addition polymerization, in an inert organic medium, of a vinyl monomer component comprising at least a portion of a carboxyl functional vinyl monomer in the presence of a glycidyl ester containing acrylic polymer, the grafting occuring by the condensation reaction between the carboxyl groups of the vinyl monomer component and the epoxy groups of the glycidyl ester containing acrylic polymer. The graft copolymer is especially useful in formulating clear coating compositions which exhibit excellent sag resistance without the necessity for externally added rheology control agent.

The polyesters are useful as resinous binders in high solids coating compositions. The coating compositions can be applied by spraying and do not result in a tacky overspray common with many high solids coating compositions.

    摘要: Block copolymers are prepared by reacting a polyester resin or polyol with a hydroxyl or carboxyl functional mercaptan and subsequently reacting the blocked polyester or polyol in the presence of oxygen, with selected vinyl monomers such as diacetone acrylamide, acrylic acid, 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate and the like. Such block copolymers provide for coating compositions having physical properties which render them useful as protective and/or decorative films.

    摘要: Ungelled hydroxyl-containing oligomers and their method of preparation are disclosed. The oligomers can be prepared by reacting an organic isocyanate with a half-ester formed from reacting a polyol with a 1,2-dicarboxylic acid anhydride followed by reaction with an epoxide. The oligomers are useful as resinous binders in high solids coating compositions. The coating compositions can be applied by spraying and do not result in a tacky overspray common with many high solids coating compositions.
