In a vehicular alternator having a permanent magnet protection mechanism, each magnet holder of a non-magnetic characteristic if a rectangle prism shape accommodates each permanent magnet disposed between adjacent claw poles. The magnet holders are connected in a ring shape along a circumferential direction of the alternator by using each connecting plate part which extends from each magnet holder in approximate circumferential direction toward an inner side of and at a front tip part of each claw pole. The connecting plate parts and the magnet holders are made from a non-magnetic plate by cutting and bending. Making the surfaces and the connecting plate part of each magnet holder from the non-magnetic plate by cutting and bending provides a high accuracy magnet position in the alternator with low manufacturing cost.

A gas field ion source that can simultaneously increase a conductance during rough vacuuming and reduce an extraction electrode aperture diameter from the viewpoint of the increase of ion current. The gas field ion source has a mechanism to change a conductance in vacuuming a gas molecule ionization chamber. That is, the conductance in vacuuming a gas molecule ionization chamber is changed in accordance with whether or not an ion beam is extracted from the gas molecule ionization chamber. By forming lids as parts of the members constituting the mechanism to change the conductance with a bimetal alloy, the conductance can be changed in accordance with the temperature of the gas molecule ionization chamber, for example the conductance is changed to a relatively small conductance at a relatively low temperature and to a relatively large conductance at a relatively high temperature.

A rotary electric machine for a vehicle has a stator having a stator winding. The stator winding is made of a plurality of segments. The segments are partly accommodated in a plurality of slots and are arranged to form coil ends groups on both axial sides. The segments are insulated from the stator core by a sheet shaped insulator inserted only along an inner surface of the slot. The segments have bare segments having no insulating layer and covered segments having insulating layer thereon. The bare segments are arranged to surround the covered segments so that the bare segments are not adjacent to the other bare segments in the slots and the coil ends groups.
