    摘要: A platinum reference electrode is disposed on the surface of a blind bore formed in a body of solid zirconia electrolyte and two semi cylindrically shaped measuring electrodes one platinum the other gold are disposed on the outer surface of the body. A first annular insulator supports the body within the casing and defines two chambers on either side thereof while a second annular insulator supports and presses lead wires against the measuring electrodes. A cylindrical connector is inserted into the blind bore to provide good electrical connection between the platinum reference electrode and a lead line. Atmospheric air enters the first chamber and the blind bore while exhaust gases enter the second chamber and contact the measuring electrodes; the platinum/platinum and platinum/gold electrodes produce markedly different signals one of which is used to recalibrate the other as the peak output voltages decrease with time and temperature.

    摘要: Addition air is admitted into a fuel passage of a carburetor through an open electromagnetic valve which is electronically controlled between the open and closed position in accordance with an oxygen sensor signal indicating the oxygen concentration in the engine exhaust gases. The amount of the additional air being supplied to the fuel passage is reduced at the rate proportional to the vacuum created by operation of the engine in a venturi section, choke section and/or intake manifold.

    摘要: An exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system comprises a vacuum operated EGR control valve, a differential pressure modulator to produce a control negative pressure for operating the control valve by modulating engine intake vacuum with air, sensors to sense certain parameters of the engine operating condition and an electronic controller which memorizes an optimum control pattern with respect to engine operating conditions to provide a control signal representing an optimum EGR rate to an electromagnetic valve, which regulates the magnitude of a signal negative pressure to be applied to the pressure modulator, so that EGR can be effected exactly at an optimum rate under every operating condition of the engine.

    摘要: With respect to an internal combustion engine equipped with a carburetor and a catalytic converter which requires to feed the engine with a stoichiometric air/fuel mixture, the control system is for regulating the air/fuel ratio produced in the carburetor and comprises an auxiliary air admitting passage connected to the fuel discharge passage of the carburetor in addition to a usual air bleed passage for the fuel discharge passage, an electromagnetic valve for controlling the admission of air into the auxiliary passage, an oxygen sensor disposed in the exhaust system upstream of the catalytic converter, and a control circuit for producing continual pulses at a frequency between 5 and 100 Hz. The widths of the individual pulses are increased gradually while the output of the oxygen sensor indicates the air/fuel ratio being below the stoichiometric ratio, and vice versa. The valve is opened as each pulse is applied thereto so that the air feed rate to the fuel in the fuel passage is momentarily augmented by admission of air into the auxiliary passage.

    摘要: A system for controlling no load operation of an internal combustion engine is provided wherein an actual engine speed signal and a target engine speed signal are compared and the air flow past a throttle valve is controlled to reduce the difference between these two signals. Subsequently, an actual air fuel ratio and a target air fuel ratio are compared and the air fuel ratio of the mixture to the engine is controlled to reduce the difference between the actual and target air fuel ratio signals. During deceleration of the engine, air flow is controlled to maintain the manifold vacuum smaller than a predetermined value so as to prevent unnecessary enrichment of the mixture due to the vacuum and then air fuel ratio is controlled to reduce the difference between the actual air fuel ratio signal and a target deceleration air fuel ratio signal.

A dashpot mechanism is connected to the throttle valve of the carburetor to damp the returning movement of the throttle valve. Furthermore, a throttle valve opening mechanism is provided to the carburetor to open slightly the throttle valve when a certain vacuum is created in the intake system downstream of the throttle valve.

    摘要: A measurement device for measuring a physical property such as temperature difference, displacement, pressure, fluid flow rate, etc. comprises: (a) an amplifying means which receives and amplifies a voltage signal corresponding to a detected physical property; (b) a reference voltage generator which generates and applies a reference voltage to the amplifying means at a predetermined time; (c) a memory which stores the output voltage signal from the amplifying means when the reference voltage generator applies the reference voltage to the amplifying means; and (d) a calculating means which outputs at least one command signal to the reference voltage generator to apply the reference voltage to the amplifying means and to the memory to store the output voltage of the amplifying means into a specified memory location thereof at the predetermined time and calculates the value of the desired physical property from the current output voltage of the amplifying means with reference to the stored voltage value in the memory, whereby an accurate physical property measurement can be made by compensating for individual differences and deterioration of the characteristics of the measurement device.

    摘要: An intake air density sensor for an internal combustion engine comprises a receptacle in the form of a flask including a spherical chamber and a tubular portion having a very fine diameter, a pressure responsive casing at least whose part is made of an elastomeric membrane and communicated with the receptacle, a gas and a conductive liquid hermetically sealed in the receptacle and pressure responsive casing, respectively, so as to locate a boundary surface between the gas and liquid in the tubular portion, and a resistor longitudinally arranged in the tubular portion so as to form short-circuiting means by the conductive liquid for the resistor, thereby detecting densities of a fluid to be measured by converting variations in pressure of fluid into variations in volume of the pressure responsive casing or sealed gas and further converting variations in position of the boundary surface of the conductive liquid into values of electrical resistances of the resistor without affecting the positional movement of the boundary surface to convert variations in density of the fluid into electrical signals with high detecting sensitivities and high accuracies.
