The apparatus includes a control unit which determines whether an image signal is a wide color gamut signal. A signal processing unit encodes color gamut information of the wide color gamut signal and allocates the color gamut information to a data region of a teletext interval if it is determined that the image signal is the wide color gamut signal. The signal processing unit transmits an image signal including a teletext packet in which the color gamut information is recorded.
