摘要: The subject invention provides materials and methods for preventing, inhibiting or reducing biofilm formation and biofilm infections, in particular, in the respiratory tract of a subject. The invention utilizes growth by-products of beneficial microorganisms to enhance the effectiveness of biocidal substances in the treatment, disruption and/or prevention of biofilms. Advantageously, the subject invention is useful against antibiotic-resistant bacterial strains, such as MRSA, Helicobacter pylori, S. pneumoniae, P. aeruginosa and A. fumigatus.

摘要: The subject invention provides multi-functional biochemical compositions, as well as their use in enhancing oil recovery by, for example, enhancing traditional acid treatments. 摘要: The subject invention provides improved methods for producing mannosylerythritol lipids (MEL) using yeasts not previously known to produce MEL. In particular, Meyerozyma guilliermondii (Pichia guilliermondii) is cultivated in a specially-tailored nutrient medium and under cultivation conditions such that the yeast unnaturally produces MEL and/or MEL-like molecules in greater amounts and at increased rates than when using standard MEL production with, for example, Pseudozyma aphidis. Yeast culture compositions are also provided, comprising yeast cells, growth medium, and high concentrations of MEL.

摘要: The subject invention provides topical therapeutic compositions and methods of their use for enhanced healing of wounds, including burns, and scars of the skin. Specifically, in one embodiment, the subject invention provides materials and methods for reducing the healing time of skin wounds and for reducing the appearance of scars. The subject invention utilizes topical compositions comprising microbial growth by-products and, optionally, a topically-acceptable carrier. In specific embodiments, the microbial growth by-products are biosurfactants.
