Abstract:
There is disclosed a lubricating composition comprising a friction modifier and a base oil comprising less than about 3% by weight of tetracycloparaffins. Methods of making and using the composition are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Lubricant compositions having improved load carrying capacity comprising an extreme pressure compound comprising a sulfur-containing compound, a load carrying capacity enhancing combination comprising a hydrocarbylamine compound and an alkylphosphorothioate compound, a friction modifier compound, and a diluent or base oil as applicable. These lubricant compositions can be used as industrial oils well-suited for the demands of geared device applications, such as in wind turbine gear-boxes and automotive gears and axles.
Abstract:
A slideway lubricating oil composition, additive concentrate, method of lubricating sliding parts. The lubricating oil includes a base oil; a metal-free friction modifier; and a metal-free, sulfur-free, phosphorus containing anti-wear/extreme pressure agent. The lubricating oil provides a lower coefficient of friction for non-metal sliding surfaces than for metal sliding surfaces.

There is disclosed a lubricating composition comprising a friction modifier and a base oil comprising less than about 3% by weight of tetracycloparaffins. Methods of making and using the composition are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Lubricant compositions having improved anticorrosion performance comprising an extreme pressure compound comprising a sulfur-containing compound, an antiwear compound comprising a phosphorous-containing compound, an alkylene amine friction modifying compound, a dispersant compound containing basic nitrogen, and a diluent or base oil as applicable, wherein any of compounds other than the diluent or base oil can be the same or different compounds. These lubricant compositions provide improved anticorrosion resistance and fatigue performance, which prolongs service lives of lubricated parts, especially those used in outdoor applications.
Abstract:
A dispersant additive composition, a lubricant composition containing the dispersant additive, a transmission containing the dispersant additive, and a method of providing a versatile lubricating fluid. The dispersant includes a reaction product of a hydrocarbyl substituted carboxylic acid or anhydride and an amine. The reaction product has a nitrogen content up to 10,000 ppm by weight, and a boron plus phosphorus to nitrogen ((B+P)/N) weight ratio of from 0:1 to about 0.8:1. The dispersant additive composition is effective to provide an electrical conductivity to a lubricant composition containing the dispersant additive composition and a metal detergent of less than about 1700 pS/m.
Abstract:
Lubricated surfaces and lubricant compositions for lubricating a surface. The lubricated surface is provided by a lubricant composition including a base oil of lubricating viscosity, at least one metal salt of phosphorothioic acid, and an ashless, sulfur-free organophosphorus compound providing a metal to phosphorus weight ratio ranging from about 0.25:1 to about 1.0:1 by weight. The lubricant composition is substantially devoid of molybdenum.
Abstract:
An additive concentrate comprising a viscosity index modifying copolymer comprising the reaction product of an acylated ethylene-olefin copolymer and a polyamine, and lubricating compositions containing the same are provided. Methods of improving boundary film resistance of a lubricating composition and modifying the viscosity of a lubricating composition are also provided.
Abstract:
A method for reducing friction coefficients and wear between lubricated surfaces. The method includes providing an amount of an oil-soluble or oil-dispersible component selected from the group consisting of a photo-crosslinkable poly(2-cinnamoyloxyalkyl acrylate) core and a diblock acrylate copolymer corona in a fully formulated lubricant composition containing a base oil of lubricating viscosity. The lubricant composition containing the component is applied to a surface to be lubricated.
Abstract:
A lubricated surface, a method for reducing wear between moving parts, and lubricants, and lubricant additive concentrates containing a wear reducing agent. The lubricated surface contains a base oil of lubricating viscosity and an amount of at least one hydrocarbon soluble magnesium compound effective to provide a reduction in surface wear greater than a reduction surface wear for a lubricant composition devoid of the magnesium compound. The lubricant composition contains no more than about 0.05 wt. % phosphorus and is devoid of calcium detergents.
