摘要: A liquid crystal display device is provided which includes first and second substrates with liquid crystal therebetween. Gate lines and drain lines are formed on the first substrate with pixel regions defined by the gate signal lines and drain signal lines. Each pixel region includes a pixel electrode and a counter electrode formed in different layers from one another, with the counter layer being formed in a layer closer to the liquid crystal layer than the pixel electrode.

摘要: A liquid crystal display device can realize a broad visual field angle comparable to a cathode ray tube and produce a high brightness and a high image quality, with low power consumption and a narrow frame. To achieve these features, in an active matrix system liquid crystal display device, a counter electrode and a pixel electrode are linearly formed so as not to flatly overlap each other, thus enabling generation of an electric field parallel to the substrate surface, and an insulating film having a specific dielectric constant not greater than 4 is formed on a drain line, thus forming the counter electrode on the insulating film to cover the drain line.

摘要: There is provided a light emitting device which makes it possible to reduce optical loss and improve brightness by increasing a ratio of fluorescent light that is not reabsorbed by a light emitting element while decreasing a ratio of scattered light that is reabsorbed by the light emitting element. Individual faces forming outer faces of the light emitting element 2 are in contact with a bonding member 3 or sealing member 4. The bonding member 3 and the sealing member 4 contain a fluorophor. Emitted light emitted from the faces of the light emitting element 2 is transformed into fluorescent light by the fluorophor. Therefore, the ratio of scattered light that is not transformed from the emitted light into the fluorescent light can be decreased while the ratio of fluorescent light is increased.

摘要: A data conversion method from m bits of data words into n bits of code words in recording or transmission, in which n is larger than m. A number of bit "0" arranged between one bit "1" and a next bit "1" is restricted to at most 4 in a code string of each code word, and a pair of groups of the n bits of code words corresponding to CDSs (code word digital sum) of two codes +1 and -1 are allowed to correspond to the m bits of data words. One of the two codes +1 and -1 is selectively used according to a DSV (digital sum variation) control signal to convert the m bits of data word into the n bits of code word. A pilot signal formation method using the data conversion method for obtaining a tracking error signal in a magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus, and a rotary magnetic head device for use in a magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus are also disclosed.
