摘要:
High rubber graft thermoplastic compositions are prepared by melt blending an EPDM or an EP rubber and a copolymer derived from a vinyl cyanide compound and a vinyl aromatic compound. Both the copolymer and the rubber are independently either epoxy or carboxy functionalized.
摘要:
Compositions comprising a carboxylated PPE resin and a polyamide having good compatibility and impact properties. The carboxylated PPE resin/polyamide alloys are produced by a process wherein a mixture consisting essentially of the PPE resin and a minor amount of an unsaturated carboxylic compound are first melt processed, then compounded with the polyamide.

Compounds of Formula I ##STR1## wherein Z is an aromatic group, each R is individually selected from the group consisting of alkyl groups of from 1 to about 12 carbon atoms, thioalkyl groups of from 1 to about 12 carbon atoms, and halogen atoms, n is from 1 to about 6, and x is from 0 to 7, are suitable for use in preparing rubber latex particles. The rubbers are useful as substrates in graft copolymers and the resulting graft copolymers are suitable for use in thermoplastic blend compositions, particularly with transparent polymers. The rubber materials are advantageous in that they exhibit low glass transition temperatures and high refractive indices.

Thermoplastic molding compositions having an inherent matte or low gloss surface finish comprise a polymer blend of a polycarbonate and an emulsion grafted ABS polymer, and a low gloss enhancing amount of a poly(epoxide).
摘要:
Thermoplastic blend compositions comprise a crystalline polyalkylene terephthalate, a styrenic polymer component, and a diepoxide. The styrenic polymer component comprises a rigid portion formed from at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of styrene, halogen-substituted styrene, alpha-methyl styrene and para-methyl styrene, and at least one additional ethylenically unsaturated monomer, and a rubber portion including polybutadiene.

Polyphenylene ether resins impact modified with a rubbery impact modifier such as an ABA block copolymer or a polyolefin is made more processable by further compounding with a moderate amount of an aromatic polycarbonate. The compositions exhibit markedly high impact strength and high heat distortion temperature characteristics.
摘要:
Thermoplastic blend compositions comprise a polyphenylene ether resin, a polyamide resin and a compatibilizing agent present in an amount sufficient to effect compatibilization of the polyphenylene ether resin and the polyamide resin. The compatibilizing agent comprises a compound selected from the group consisting of tetracarboxylic acids of aromatic and alicyclic compounds and dianhydride derivatives thereof, and halogen substituted phthalic anhydrides.
摘要:
Thermoplastic blend compositions comprise a polyamide, a carboxylated polyphenylene ether resin and an impact modifier. The carboxylated polyphenylene ether resin is the product of melt mixing a mixture consisting essentially of polyphenylene ether resin and a minor amount of an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid compound. The impact modifier may comprise a graft of a vinyl aromatic polymer on a rubbery substrate; a vinyl aromatic-conjugated diene-vinyl aromatic triblock polymer; a carboxylated vinyl aromatic-conjugated diene-vinyl aromatic triblock polymer; a carboxylated alpha-olefin polymer; a copolymer of an alpha-olefin compound and an unsaturated carboxylic compound; a graft of a rigid acrylic polymer on a rubber substrate; a linear low density polyethylene; or mixtures thereof.
摘要:
Melt-processing a mixture of a polyphenylene ether (PPE) and an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic compound, in the absence of an added free radical initiator such as a peroxide, serves to introduce carboxyl functionality into the PPE resin. The resulting carboxylated PPE resins are useful in forming alloys with more polar resins such as polyamides.
