    摘要: An improved magneto-optical recording medium and a method of making the same, the medium including a substrate base and a magneto-optical recording layer formed on the base and composed of a plurality of layers each of which contains a rare earth metal and a transition metal. The relative concentration ratio between the rare earth metal and the transition metal in the layers varies cyclically in the direction of the thickness of the magneto-optical recording layer. The recording medium is conveniently manufactured by simultaneously depositing the transition metal and the rare earth metal by co-sputtering the two metals on a base and providing relative movement between the base and the metal sources during co-sputtering to produce the multilayer recording structure.

    摘要: An external cavity type semiconductor laser that has a larger output and a more excellent single mode characteristic than a conventional external cavity type semiconductor laser is provided. The external cavity type semiconductor laser has a laser diode 11, a window glass 16, a grating, and a lens. The external cavity type semiconductor laser has several modifications over the conventional one. A first modification is that the window glass 16 is inclined to a beam emission surface 19 of a laser diode 11 for a predetermined angle. A second modification is that arrangements of the laser diode 11 and so forth are adjusted so that a S wave reaches the grating. A third modification is that when an output power of the laser diode 11 is 45 mW or less, a kink is suppressed. The other modifications are that a reflectance of a beam emission surface of the laser diode 11, a numerical aperture of the lens, an external cavity length, and a reflectance of a first order beam of the grating are optimized to their proper values.

    摘要: A thermomagnetic recording method is disclosed using a thermomagnetic recording medium where first, second and third magnetic thin films each formed of rare-earth and transition metals are sequentially superposed to form layers in a magnetically coupled manner. The recording is carried out by heating the thermomagnetic recording medium under a predetermined magnetic field perpendicular to the film plane thereof while selectively modulating, in accordance with data to be recorded, a first heating state at a first temperature T1 substantially above the Curie point Tc1 of the first magnetic thin film and adequate to hold the sublattice magnetization of the transition metal of the second magnetic thin film in a predetermined direction, and a second heating state at a second temperature T2 substantially above the Curie point Tc1 and adequate to invert the sublattice magnetization of the transition metal of the second magnetic thin film to the reverse of the predetermined direction. In a cooling step subsequent to the first and second heating states, maintaining the sublattice magnetization of the third magnetic thin film in a predetermined direction while orienting the sublattice magnetization of said second magnetic thin film to be directionally coincident with that of the third magnetic thin film at a temperature below the first temperature T1 without directionally inverting the sublattice magnetization of the first magnetic thin film.

    摘要: A hologram recording apparatus, a hologram recording method and a hologram recording medium reduce noise components generated by a phase modulation type spatial light modulator, thus permitting improved integrity of data to be achieved. A light beam whose diffraction state has been controlled by a diffraction control element is condensed on a hologram recording medium. With this arrangement, a predetermined diffracted light component is removed from a diffracted light beam emergent from the diffraction control element when recording information, which is based on the diffraction state controlled by the diffraction control element, in a hologram recording medium.
