    摘要: A lipopolysaccharide binding protein is disclosed as are an assay method, polypeptides and antibodies related to that binding protein. The binding protein: (a) is present in impure form in acute phase serum, but is substantially absent from normal serum; (b) binds to Gram-negative bacterially secreted lipopolysaccharide in vitro in the serum of the animal treated; (c) retards in vitro binding of the lipopolysaccharide to high density lipoprotein present in the normal serum of the animal host; and (d) immunoreacts with antibodies raised to a polypeptide having the amino acid residue sequence, from left to right and in the direction from amino-terminus to carboxy-terminus, or ##STR1## wherein each of said parenthesized amino acid residues in an alternative to the immediately preceding residue in said sequence.

    摘要: The present disclosure relates to methods and apparatus for detecting when respiratory cartridges of a respirator have reached their end-of-service-life. In some instances, two or more respiratory cartridges are removably connectable to a respirator housing, where each of the two or more respiratory cartridges receives ambient air and deliver cleaned air to the respirator housing. One of the respiratory cartridges may be configured to have a lower adsorption capacity than the remaining respirator cartridges. A gas sensor may be situated downstream of the reduced capacity respirator cartridge, and may detect an increased concentration of the targeted gas in the cleaned air delivered by the reduced capacity respiratory cartridge. When detected, an end-of-service-life indication may be provided to the user.

    摘要: A sensing system having a zeroing mechanism incorporating a micropump. The micropump may be connected to a gas conditioner for providing zeroing gas to a sensor downstream. The micropump and sensor may be connected to a processor or computer for pump control and receipt of information from the sensor. Upon zeroing and/or baseline correction of the sensor, the pump may be stopped and a sample gas may be fed into the sensor for detection and analysis. Alternatively, the pump may situated downstream of the sensor to draw conditioned gas through the sensor. A valve may be added having a conditioned gas input connected to the conditioner and having a sample input. The valve may have an output connected to the sensor. When the valve is open to the conditioned gas input, it will be closed to the sample input, and vice versa. The system may be for zeroing and/or calibration.
