    摘要: Damper apparatus for air ports of a chemical recovery furnace is mounted on a removable windbox faceplate. Damper blades extend from a cantilevered arm pivoted at the forward side of the faceplate, with the damper blades being otherwise unsupported, i.e., they are not confined to travel in tracks within the windbox. Rather, a counterweight urges the damper blades against the air port opening whereby the whole mechanism is free for removal as a unit with the faceplate. Cooperatively operable air port cleaning apparatus is also mounted on the faceplate.

    摘要: Apparatus for cleaning air ports in a chemical recovery furnace comprises an elongated cleaning rod provided with a tip on one end adapted to be inserted through an air port with a ramming motion to dislodge residual build-up. The cleaning tip is substantially smaller than the air port. Between ramming motions, the rod carrying the tip is moved a fraction of the distance around the inside edge of the air port so that successive insertions of the tip will dislodge or sever the residual material build-up.

    摘要: Apparatus for regulating air flow through an air port in a chemical recovery furnace. A plenum having an adjustable damper mounted inside a wind box associated with the furnace adjacent to the air port supplies and regulates the flow of air from the wind box to the furnace through the air port. A metal cleaning head adapted for rotatable insertion into the air port for cleaning excrescent material from the peripheral edges of the air port without blocking air flow through the port is pivotally mounted in a retracted, at-rest position adjacent to and above the air port so as not to interfere with movement of the adjustable damper. During a cleaning cycle, the damper is moved to a retracted position on the floor of the plenum so as not to interfere with the moving cleaning head. A short stroke, double articulated damper positioning mechanism facilitates movement of the damper blade in limited space.

    摘要: A solid fuel boiler with one or more fuel chutes configured to pre-dry wet solid fuel prior to loading into a combustion chamber of the boiler, enabling higher thermal efficiencies and burning less fuel to produce the same steam quantity. The pre-drying fuel chutes pass through the boiler where hot combustion gases radiantly and convectively—heat the chute walls to dry the wet solid fuel by radiant, convective, and/or conductive heating. Agitator mechanisms or structures within the chute mix the fuel for uniform heating, break up clumps of wet fuel, regulate the speed of falling fuel, prevent sticking, dry the fuel by means of steam and/or hot air, transport and deliver a cooling medium while a chute is offline in an operating boiler, and suppress fire using steam injection. Fuel from the chute can flow into a fuel storage bin or directly into the combustion zone of the furnace.
