摘要: An electronic viewing tablet is provided with a uni-body display and touch screen system. The device includes a large display, connectors for USB, flash ROM ports (such as Smart Media, Compact Flash and Secure Digital/Multi-Media Flash) protected behind a waterproof access door, a wireless network interface, a momentary contact switch and a waterproof access panel for servicing the internal battery. An inductive charging system may be provided to recharge an internal battery. A microprocessor based electronic communication and control system controls the electronic components of the device. The electronic tablet allows a user to acquire content and applications on a personal computer or network or purchase data and images on removable flash media. Applications, data and images (electronic books, magazines, newspapers, text files, sheet music and “printed” files) may be downloaded to the tablet through a USB connector, a wireless connection, or through a ROM port. Once loaded onto the tablet, written material may be read wherever the user chooses, independent of the computer or network. A user interface presents simple commands to the user, presented in a graphical fashion on a display, allowing the user to navigate the information stored in the device and execute the applications that are present. Soft buttons on the touch screen allow the user to interact with the tablet.

摘要: Disclosed is a cold-water soluble starch and a process for preparing same. Generally, the process comprises providing a hydroxyalkyl starch and applying a shearing force to the starch in an extruder in the presence of moisture, the force and the moisture each being sufficient to gelatinize at least substantially all of the granules of the starch to thereby form a sheared starch. The starch is heated to its gelatinization temperature after the starch has passed partially through the barrel of the extruder, with the moisture being maintained at a level sufficiently high to allow gelatinization but sufficiency low to protect the starch from becoming too sticky to extrude. The extruded starch product thus formed may be used in connection with a number of film-forming, coating, and other applications.

The beneficial material may be a control agent for a biological entity that is detrimental to the growth of the seed. The control agent may be, for instance, a fungicide, herbicide, or insecticide. Also disclosed is a coated seed, the seed including a coating over at least a portion thereof that comprises hemicellulose and, optionally, a control agent. Methods for preparing such coated seeds and for planting such coated seeds also are disclosed.

摘要: A dental apparatus is provided with an ozone irrigation system. Ozonated water is produced in the irrigation system and supplied to the dental apparatus. The dental apparatus can have a handpiece that drives a cannulated instrument, such as a cannulated file. The ozonated water can be supplied to an axial passage formed in the instrument. Radial ports are provided through the instrument such that the ozonated water can spray radially outward into a treatment zone during movement of the instrument. The ozonated water thereby can lubricate and cool the treatment zone while also providing advantageous cleaning of the zone.

The derivatized oligosaccharides preferably are prepared by extruding a reaction mixture comprising a saccharide having a DP ranging from 1 to 4, oligosaccharide having a degree of polymerization of at least 5, and, optionally an oligosaccharide having a degree of polymerization of at least 20. The products are low in digestibility, and thus in various embodiments are suitable for use as bulking agents, for controlled energy release products, and for other purposes.

摘要: An integrated data storage control system provides, in a single integrated circuit, RDC, servo logic, ATA interface, microprocessor, and other formerly discrete components in one highly integrated system design. The integrated circuit is rendered using a single integrated circuit technology type (e.g., digital CMOS) for all components. Analog and digital circuits are combined in such a way as to eliminate or reduce noise or interference in digital circuits from analog circuit components. Individual elements may have their outputs and inputs MUXed together such that individual elements can be selectively switched (during testing modes) such that the integrated circuit emulates or behaves in the same or similar manner as one of the prior art components. The present invention may be applied to magnetic hard disk drives (HDDs) or other types of storage devices such as floppy disk controllers, optical disk drives (e.g., CD-ROMs and the like), tape drives, and other data storage devices.
