Abstract: Systems, methods, and programs embodied in a computer readable medium are provided for index extraction. Stored in a database are ground truth documents that are organized according to a plurality of classifications, each classification having a group of predefined indices. A document to be indexed is classified by drawing an association between the document and one of the classifications. An attempt is made to extract from the document at least a subset of the group of predefined indices associated with the one of the classifications. Upon a failure to extract the subset of the group of predefined indices, attempts are made to find and correct at least one text recognition error in the document based upon a salient dictionary associated with the one of the classifications.

Abstract: A method of classifying a document includes providing a plurality of classifier engines and classifying the document using output from one or more of the classifier engines based on a comparison of one or more metrics for each classifier engine. In another embodiment, a method of classifying a document comprises providing a plurality of classifier engines and determining one or more metrics for each classifier engine. These metrics are used to determine how to use the classifier engines to classify the document, and the document is classified accordingly. A further embodiment includes a document classifier utilizing a plurality of classifier engines. In yet another embodiment, a computer-readable medium contains instructions for controlling a computer system to perform a method of using a plurality of classifier engines to classify a document.

Abstract: A device for connecting two tubular vessels together in a side-by-side or tangential manner is disclosed. The device has an annulus and at least one series of fingers connected to and extending away from the annulus. In the preferred embodiment there are two sets of fingers connected to and extending away from the annulus in opposite directions. Each finger is preferably biased into an arcuate shape. In use, a deployment apparatus is used to constrain the fingers of the device to be in a relatively planar configuration. The deployment apparatus containing the device is placed between and in contact with the two tubular vessels so that one tubular vessel is above the device and one tubular vessel is below the device and so that the fingers of the device come into contact with the tissue of the vessels. As the fingers penetrate the vessels the constraint on the fingers is removed so that the fingers can assume their biased arcuate shape. In this way, the fingers penetrate and grasp the tissue of the vessels so that the device grasps the vessels and pulls the vessels toward each other.

Abstract: A transmission is disclosed having an input member, an output member, and first, second, third and fourth planetary gear sets each having first, second and third members. A plurality of interconnecting members continuously interconnect one of the first, second and third members of one of the planetary gear sets with one of the first, second and third members of another of the planetary gear sets. Five torque-transmitting mechanisms are selectively engageable in combinations of at least three to establish at least eight forward speed ratios and at least one reverse speed ratio between the input member and the output member. The first of the five torque-transmitting mechanisms is a selectable one-way clutch engageable to interconnect the third member of the first planetary gear set with the stationary member.

Abstract: A method is provided for improving shift quality in an automatic transmission. In many automatic transmissions, the shift quality during lift foot upshifts is unsatisfying. Generally, two types of complaints concerning shift quality are known: harsh feel right after the shift order and bump at the synchronization of the shift. In order to provide an automatic transmission which overcomes these two problems, a first and a second positive torque requests are initiated on upshift coasts. This measure improves the global shift feel by controlling the engine toque level at shift order and at synchronization: the engine torque level at the beginning of the gear shift is smoothly decreased to reduce the initial bump and is controlled at the synchronization to reduce the amplitude of underlap when the clutch capacity is rising.
