Abstract:
The present invention relates to methods and compositions for stabilizing a change in corneal curvature, stabilizing refractive error improvements and stabilizing (maintaining) unaided visual acuity improvements after corneal reshaping procedures. This stabilization process is accomplished by administering compositions containing at least one stabilizing ophthalmic agent to the cornea of the eye after a corneal reshaping procedure.
Abstract:
A mounting bracket for use with a reference array of a computer assisted surgery system includes a base and an arcuate support frame coupled to the base. The base is configured to be secured to a bone of a patient. The arcuate support frame includes a plurality of mounts. Each mount is configured to receive a mounting end of the reference array. In some embodiments, the arcuate support frame may be pivotable with respect to the base. Additionally, in some embodiments, the arcuate support frame may be movable about an arc defined by the arcuate support frame.
Abstract:
An orthopaedic surgical device for determining the joint force of a patient's joint includes a sensor housing and a handle. The sensor housing is shaped to be positioned in a patient's joint and includes a sensor array positioned therein and configured to generate sensor signals indicative of the joint force of the patient's joint. The handle includes a circuit positioned therein and configured to control a display located on the handle to provide a visual indication of the joint force of the patient's joint. The handle may be physically secured to the sensor housing or may be coupled thereto via a wire to facilitate communications between the sensor array and the circuit.

Abstract:
Systems and methods for use in training observers and search and rescue personnel in detecting and identifying visual cues related to potential threats to aircraft and to ground based search and rescue circumstances. A visual display displays a scene generated by a visual scene generator apparatus. A vision limiting device is placed between the trainee and the visual display and the trainee can only see a limited amount of the visual display through a window on the vision limiting device. The limited view of the scene afforded the trainee will force the trainee to move around at various angles to see more of the scene as he normally would in real life.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a forehead rest for respiratory masks. An embodiment of the forehead rest comprises a deformable resilient member (300) comprising a top surface (302) and a base (303) connected by two side walls (304, 305), said top surface (302) being substantially thicker than said side walls (304, 305), said deformable member (300) evenly distributing the pressure on the forehead of a patient that contacts said deformable resilient member (300), wherein said side walls (304, 305) are capable of folding under compression.

Abstract:
An intramedullary nail for use in a medullary canal of an epiphysis and a diaphysis of a long bone is provided. The nail includes a body having a length in a longitudinal direction and a width in the transverse direction normal to the longitudinal direction. The body has a diaphyseal portion and a first epiphyseal portion. The diaphyseal portion has an external periphery configured for placement in the medullary canal of the diaphysis of the long bone. The diaphyseal portion defines a longitudinally extending first surface of the diaphyseal portion. The first surface defines a longitudinally extending first void. The first epiphyseal portion extends from the diaphyseal portion. The first epiphyseal portion is configured for placement in the medullary canal of the first epiphysis of the long bone. The nail also includes a first insert positioned in the longitudinally extending first void of the diaphyseal portion. The first insert and the diaphyseal portion of the body are made from different materials.

Abstract:
According to one aspect of the present invention, a system for deflecting and distributing liquid from a liquid source is provided. The system comprises a dispersing element disposed along an elongated member, and a retaining structure adapted to enclose at least a portion of the elongated member. The dispersing element further comprises a series of diagonal, spaced grooves configured to receive and deflect the liquid. The dispersing element and the elongated member are configured to rotate and precess relatively freely within the retaining structure.
