Abstract: A power supply system includes a controller. The controller is configured to; a) control charging and discharging of an electrical storage device upon reception of an output of a current sensor and a voltage sensor, b) calculate a control current value by subtracting an offset value from a detected value of the current sensor, c) calculate a first determination result and a second determination result, respectively obtained by determining whether the electrical storage device is being charged or discharged based on the control current value, and based on a change in a remaining amount of charge of the electrical storage device, and d) when the first determination result and the second determination result differ from each other, change the offset value such that the first determination result coincides with the second determination result.

Abstract: An electric vehicle includes: a vehicle drive apparatus configured to receive electricity to generate vehicle drive power and to generate electricity; a secondary battery that selectively receives and outputs electricity from/to the vehicle drive apparatus; a current sensor that selectively detects (a) an electric current to be input into the secondary battery and (b) an electric current output from the secondary battery; and an electronic control unit configured to control charging and discharging of the secondary battery, and configured to calculate, using a detected value from the current sensor, an evaluation value indicating a degree of deterioration of the secondary battery due to non-uniformity in salt concentration in the secondary battery caused by charging and discharging of the secondary battery. The electronic control unit is configured to execute a capacity-raising control in which a remaining capacity of the secondary battery is raised when the evaluation value reaches a prescribed threshold.

Abstract: When a voltage value of an electrical storage device becomes higher than a predetermined voltage value for identifying an overcharged state of the electrical storage device, calculation of a heat generation amount of the electrical storage device based on a current value is started. When the calculated heat generation amount is larger than a predetermined amount, it is determined that the electrical storage device is in an abnormal state (abnormal state related to heating). Because the electrical storage device enters an easily heated state when the voltage value becomes higher than the predetermined voltage value, the heat generation amount may be monitored by starting calculation of the heat generation amount. Once the voltage value becomes higher than the predetermined voltage value, irrespective of a high/low relationship between the voltage value and the predetermined voltage value, the abnormal state may be determined by monitoring the heat generation amount.

Abstract: A cylindrical battery includes a battery case, a cap, an electric insulating ring, and an outer package label. The battery case houses an electrode body therein, and is connected to negative electrodes. The cap includes a first projecting portion sealing a housing opening of the battery case and serving as a positive electrode projection, and a flat portion connected to the first projecting portion, a peripheral edge portion of the flat portion being located adjacent to the battery case with an electric insulator interposed therebetween. The electric insulating ring covers the flat portion and an adjacent portion between the flat portion and the battery case, and is formed with an exposure hole corresponding to the first projecting portion. A second projecting portion is provided on a surface of the flat portion that faces the electric insulating ring.

Abstract: A control system for a battery includes a current sensor and an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is configured to calculate a first error and a second offset error of the current sensor respectively based on outputs of the current sensor just before a stop of the electronic control unit and at startup of the electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is configured to correct an output of the current sensor by using a first error when a temperature of the current sensor at startup of the electronic control unit is higher than or equal to a threshold temperature, and correct the output of the current sensor by using a second error when the temperature of the current sensor at startup of the electronic control unit is lower than the threshold temperature.

Abstract: A control apparatus for a hybrid vehicle including an engine and a motor, includes a controller to update an allowable input current value in accordance with the battery state and to control an input to the battery, the allowable input current value being the maximum current value to which the battery input is permitted. The controller performs control such that limitation of the battery input in accordance with the allowable input current value is not performed if a deterioration degree of a catalyst for purifying an exhaust gas from the engine is larger than a predetermined value when an engine braking force and a regenerative motor braking force are applied during deceleration.
