摘要: A quickly curable unsaturated polyester composition with high surface quality contains an unsaturated polyester, a vinyl monomer, either an alkane polyol polyacrylate or an alkane polyol polymethylacrylate, a thermoplastic resin, and one or more curing catalysts selected from t-butylperoxy benzoate, t-butylperoxy octoate and 2,5-dimethyl-2,5-di(benzoilperoxy) hexane. Molding compounds are obtained by impregnating glass fibers with such composition and molded products obtained by curing such molding material have improved surface smoothness.

摘要: Curable unsaturated polyester resin compositions from which molded products with superior surface smoothness can be obtained include a block copolymer of a specified form, an unsaturated polyester, a vinyl monomer, a filler, a curing catalyst and a reinforcing fiber. The block copolymer is of the form A--(B).sub.n where A is non-hydrogenated polyisoprene block having viscosity average molecular weight of 10000 or more, B is saturated polyester block obtainable by condensation of organic dicarboxylic anhydride and 1,2-epoxide, more than 50 mol % of terminal groups of the polyester block being carboxylic acid group, A and B are connected by ester linkage and n is not less than 2. Block copolymers of this type can be formed by starting with carboxylic acid or hydroxyl group in polyisoprene and by alternate condensation of organic dicarboxylic anhydride and 1,2-epoxide.

摘要: Resin compositions containing (a) unsaturated polyester, (b) polymerizable monomer, (c) thermoplastic resin, (d) a polymerization initiator, and (e) hollow glass microspheres with a true density of 0.5 to 1.3 g/cm.sup.3 and an elution alkalinity of 0.05 meq/g or less; molding materials obtained by impregnating glass fibers with such resin compositions; and molded products obtained by curing such molding materials. The molding materials have a superior workability and are useful for the production of parts to be coated, such as automotive external body panels. The molded products are light in weight and are highly resistant to water. Defective adhesion of coating or blisters does not occur.

摘要: The fiberglass reinforced plastics bumper reinforcement fitted with an elastic bumper--which is laterally mounted to the vehicle and which consists, in cross section, of a plurality of rectangular frames stacked in layer--is characterized by forwardly projecting strips formed at the intersections between the front wall of the bumper reinforcement and the top and bottom plates of the reinforcement as well as the horizontally extending webs. These projecting strips on the front wall of the bumper reinforcement alleviate the stress concentrations at these intersections that might be caused when an impact load is applied to the elastic bumper and therefore the bumper reinforcement, thus increasing the fracture strength of the intersections of the bumper reinforcement. The bumper reinforcement is further characterized in that at least one of the top and bottom projecting strips is provided with a protrusion raised upward or downward from the outer surface of the top or bottom plate to further reduce the stress concentration at the intersections.

摘要: A leaf spring assembly comprises a longitudinal leaf spring of fiber reinforced plastics having a first surface to be applied with a tension force and a second surface to be applied with a compression force, a pair of retainer plates attached to the first and second surfaces of the leaf spring, and a pair of U-bolts and nuts for clamping the retainer plates to the leaf spring and mounting the same on an axle housing. The leaf spring is provided at the second surface thereof with a recess which is located substantially at the central portion of the leaf spring. The leaf spring assembly further comprises a seat plate formed with a protruded portion coupled with the recess of the leaf spring and secured to the second surface of the leaf spring, and a position pin fixed to the retainer plate attached to the second surface of the leaf spring, the position pin being coupled with the recess of the leaf spring through the seat plate to position the retainer plates substantially at the central portion of the leaf spring.
