    Abstract: An apparatus 1 for continuously forming an FRP square pipe comprises a long core 10 for laminating prepreg sheets, and to this core 10 are fed prepreg sheets from prepreg laminating devices 20, 30, 40 and 50 with a release film interposed between the core, so as to be laminated into square pipe form. The core 10 has an outer diameter size smaller than the inner diameter size of the square pipe to be formed. The outer circumference of the square pipe is wrapped with a tape-like film fed from a tape-like release film wrapping device 200 in spiral fashion, and the work is heated and pressed in a hot press 100. The work is then subjected to additional heating in a postcure furnace 110 to form the FRP square pipe. The square pipe is intermittently pulled by a puller 130 disposed downstream of a clamp 120. The pipe is then cut to predetermined lengths by a cutter not shown to be completed as a product.

    Abstract: A device to control vertical vibration of a building caused by seismic disturbance. Air springs are positioned and secured between the building foundation and the building superstructure to attenuate vertical vibration of the building. Vertical support rails are secured to the foundation and/or to the building superstructure on opposite sides of, and adjacent to, the air springs. Horizontal connecting brackets are rigidly secured to the air springs and slidably secured to the adjacent rails. The brackets restrain horizontal deflection of the air springs without interfering with vertical reciprocation of the air springs.

    Abstract: A side-entry specimen holder for use with a transmission electron microscope. The holder comprises a specimen-holding plate and an insertion rod. The holding plate is provided with a hole permitting passage of the electron beam produced inside the microscope. Either a specimen or a piece of mesh on which a specimen is placed is held inside the hole. An engaging hole is formed at one end of the holding plate. The insertion rod has a pin at its front end. The pin is engaged in the engaging hole to detachably hold the holding plate. Thus, the insertion rod is coupled to the holding plate.

    Abstract: In a continuous molding apparatus equipped with a long core 10 having a curvature disposed on a plane, a release film supplied from a lower release film feeder 20 is sent onto the core 10, and prepreg sheets supplied from a prepreg sheet feeder 30 are laminated thereon and preformed. A release film supplied from a release film feeder 40 is disposed on top of the laminated body, before the body is sent into a hot press 50. A puller 60 moves the laminated body without loading tension thereto. The laminated body enters a postcure device 70 in which thermosetting of the material is completed.

    Abstract: An electron microscope capable of performing accurate X-ray analysis. A specimen stage on which a specimen to be investigated is placed, is disposed between the upper and lower magnetic pole pieces of the objective lens. The specimen is irradiated with the electron beam to detect X-rays emitted from the specimen. The specimen stage consists of a light element, such as beryllium, that produces a very small amount of X-rays when irradiated with the electron beam. A metal film of a heavy element, such as gold, is deposited on the upper surface of the specimen stage. This metal film produces a large amount of X-rays when irradiated with the electron beam. The X-rays emitted from the lower magnetic pole piece are absorbed by the metal film. Consequently, the X-ray detector of the microscope detects only the X-rays produced from the specimen.
