    摘要: In a side-valve internal combustion engine, a combustion chamber in a cylinder head is defined into a substantially triangular pyramid shape having a triangular opened edge. A third angle portion of the opened edge formed by a first slant having a relatively small angle and a second slant having a relatively large angle is offset from an axis of a cylinder bore toward the first slant. Thus, it is possible to a swirl of an air-fuel mixture during an intake stroke to uniformize the air-fuel ratio, thereby providing a reduction in fuel consumption, and producing a swirl of combustion gas during an expansion stroke to eliminate the non-uniformity of combustion, thereby providing an increase in power output and a reduction in amount of unburned components in the exhaust gas.

    摘要: A composite control valve is constructed by a valve housing, first and second diaphragms mounted to the valve housing and disposed to be opposed to each other, a negative pressure working chamber defined between the first and second diaphragms to communicate with a negative pressure generating section in an engine, a first control valve adapted to be opened and closed by advancing and returning of the first diaphragm, and a second control valve adapted to be opened and closed by advancing and returning of the second diaphragm. The first control valve is incorporated into an air vent system for a fuel tank, and the second control valve is incorporated into a fuel passage system extending from the fuel tank to a fuel supply section in the engine. Thus, upon stoppage of the operation of the engine, not only the fuel passage system but also the air vent system leading to the upper space in the fuel tank are blocked simultaneously, thereby preventing release of an evaporated fuel generated in the fuel tank to the atmosphere.

A restoration circuit restores data which has been saved in the memory to a predetermined circuit in the first area. A power supply control circuit supplies power to the memory if data has been saved in the memory. Otherwise the power supply control circuit stops the supply of power to the memory.

    摘要: In an engine of a compression-ratio variable type, a subsidiary rod and a piston connected to a crankshaft are connected to each other through a connecting rod, and an eccentric shaft mounted at an eccentric location on a support shaft turnably carried in an engine body and the subsidiary rod are connected to each other through a control rod, so that the compression ratio of the engine is changed by changing the turned position of the support shaft. The engine further includes a one-way clutch mounted between the support shaft and the engine body for limiting the direction of turning of the support shaft. The turned position of the support shaft is limited selectively at a plurality of points by a turned-position limiting means, and a load applied to at least one of the support shaft and the turned-position limiting means is moderated by buffering means.
