    摘要: A surface activating process in which treatment can be performed within a short time and in which activation of undesired areas does not occur is achieved by concentrating ultraviolet light with wavelengths from 200 nm to 300 nm by means of an oval focussing mirror. The ultraviolet light is incident in parallel on a mask via a first reflector, an integrator lens, a shutter, a second reflector, and a collimator, and is radiated through the mask onto a workpiece to activation a surface area of the workpiece. The arc length of the lamp is selected to be within a range from 7.5 to 29 mm to obtain a radiation intensity which is sufficient for surface activation. Furthermore, the relationship .alpha.>1.5.degree. and the relationship d.times.tan .alpha..ltoreq.0.1 W are satisfied at the same time, where .alpha. is the visual angle of the ultraviolet light, d is the thickness of an oxygencontaining gas layer which is formed between the mask and the workpiece, and W is the width of a minimum unit of the surface areas of the workpiece to be activated. In this way entry of adverse light can be prevented.

    摘要: A short arc lamp in which cylindrical retaining bodies can be easily and reliably attached in upholding parts of the electrodes on a temporary basis and in which also the disadvantages which are caused by an anomalous discharge immediately after starting of lamp operation can be eliminated are achieved in a short arc lamp in which a cathode and an anode opposite one another in an arc tube having side parts on opposite sides, in which the upholding parts of the cathode and anode electrodes are inserted and held in cylindrical retaining bodies, and in which the cylindrical retaining bodies are supported in the shrunken regions of the side tubes by the upholding parts of the electrodes being wound with coil components which border the faces of the cylindrical retaining bodies that face the electrodes, and by the cylindrical retaining bodies being temporarily attached by these coil components. Furthermore, as the coil components, a coil wound which is formed of a flexible foil lead that has been bent in the middle region of the flexible coil lead and wound so that the two ends of the flexible coil lead are located on the side closest to the electrode.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for manufacturing a bulb wherein a bead mount and a glass bulb are set in a recess in an upper surface of a heater arranged inside a hermetically sealed chamber, a first gas comprised of one component of a composition of a sealing gas in the glass bulb or an inert gas excluding the sealing gas is supplied to the chamber at a predetermined pressure after the chamber is evacuated, a second gas comprised of a remaining component of the sealing gas or all of the components thereof is sprayed in a space between the glass bulb and the bead mount at a pressure higher than that of the first gas to exhaust the first gas from the space within the glass bulb. The heater is energized after the substitution of the gas within the space of the bulb is performed, or while the gas substitution in the space is being performed, in order to heat and melt an edge portion of the bead mount and glass bulb to seal the glass bulb to the bead mount with the second gas sealed within the glass bulb.

    摘要: A brush holder extends substantially in a radial direction of a commutator. The brush holder includes a first inner side surface and a second inner side surface, which are separate from each other in the axial direction of the commutator. A torsion spring presses portions-to-be-pressed of a brush-rear end, thereby urging the brush toward the commutator. The portions-to-be-pressed are deviated from a brush-center line in the axial direction of the commutator. The brush is urged by the torsion spring, thereby bringing a brush-tip end into contact with the first inner side surface, and bringing the brush-rear end into contact with the second inner side surface.
