Abstract:
The organic material in a landfill's incoming solid waste is converted into a useful biogas (methane). A bio vapor stimulation system comprises components for mixing bacteria and nutrients and for growing bacteria, as well as process sensors, and a delivery system to provide an appropriate balance of: (1) anaerobic bacteria, (2) nutrients, and (3) humidification. Measurements of landfill site conditions, landfill gas, landfill gas condensate for temperature, pH, alkalinity, COD/BOD and gas composition, oxidation-reduction potential (ORP), volatile acid concentration, and/or other parameters are used as process control inputs. Based upon these measured indicators of the health and status of the anaerobic bacteria community within the site, various process changes may be administered such as bacteria composition, additives, nutrient composition and quantity, and temperature and ph of the liquid being fed into a carrier gas for site humidification, thereby facilitating a more efficient conversion of organic waste into biogas.
Abstract:
A water injector has a plug end fitting for installation on the individual combustion chambers of an internal combustion engine of the spark ignition or compression ignition type, though which a quantity of water or other non-fuel fluid is injected into the combustion chamber. The temperature and combustion pressure of each combustion chamber as well as the temperature, pressure and humidity of the atmosphere may be monitored and used to control the quantity of water injected into the combustion chambers such that the engine operates at internal combustion conditions equivalent to those occurring at the standard ISO rated atmospheric conditions and thus delivers its ISO rated output regardless of atmospheric conditions. A nozzle is fitted to the plug end of the water injector containing a plurality of openings to inject the water or other non-fuel fluid into the combustion chamber in a predetermined spatial spray pattern. For spark-ignited engines, a high energy pre-chamber may be integrated with the water injector to facilitate ignition when water is injected into the compression cycle. For Diesel engines, the water injection nozzle may be provided with a spatial spray pattern that complements that of the Diesel injector within the cylinder. Engine efficiency may be further enhanced by using an exhaust heat exchanger to preheat at least some of the fluid being injected into the engine and by combining a first injection of fluid at a lower temperature for controlling combustion and otherwise improving efficiency during the compression stroke with a second injection of fluid at a substantially higher temperature during the expansion stroke for maintaining a high rated output during non ISO conditions.
Abstract:
A flow control system including a mandrel having one or more ports; one or more seals in sealing contact with the mandrel; a housing positioned about the mandrel and one or more seals and in sealing contact with the one or more seals. One or more diffusers placed in a fluid pathway of the flow control system. The one or more diffusers including an inner race having a bearing surface; an outer race having a bearing surface; an axially oriented wedge in contact with both the inner race and the outer race and configured to increase distance between the inner race bearing surface. The outer race bearing surface with wedge movement in one direction while permitting distance between the inner race bearing surface and the outer race bearing surface to decrease with wedge movement in an opposite direction. A second axially oriented wedge in contact with both the inner race and the outer race and configured to increase distance between the inner race bearing surface and the outer race bearing surface with wedge movement in one direction while permitting distance between the inner race bearing surface and the outer race bearing surface to decrease with wedge movement in an opposite direction.

Abstract:
This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus related to laser ablation spectrometry systems. In one aspect, a system comprises a microscope, a laser, a continuous flow probe, and a gas confinement device. The laser is positioned to emit light through an objective lens of the microscope. The continuous flow probe is coupled to a spectrometer. An end of the continuous flow probe is positioned proximate a sample and between the sample and the objective lens. The gas confinement device defines a gas inlet, a chamber, a platform, a wall surrounding the platform, a plurality of vents, and a plurality of channels. Each of the plurality of vents is positioned to direct a gas substantially parallel to the platform, and each of the plurality of vents is defined in the wall. The plurality of channels is operable to provide fluid communication between the chamber and the plurality of vents.
Abstract:
My invention is a computer implemented system for conducting escrow controlled reverse-auction eCommerce transactions for a membership group on the Internet. Firstly, my invention greatly increases the safety of eCommerce transactions by the automated escrow control of the Buyer's money, whereby the Buyer's funds are held by the system and not released until the purchased item is received in ‘As Described’ conditions; Secondly, my invention determines the price of the item for sale by first displaying the item in an eShowcase at a fixed price for a chosen length of time and then lowering the price, in a reverse auction, until an accredited member decides to buy, where upon the automated escrow system takes over. The entire process of enrolling and vetting buyers and sellers (members), information exchange between the system and its members, money management via escrow and the variable item price control is a fully integrated software apparatus that runs on a stand-alone basis.
