Abstract: A system is provided for determining a parameter indicative of an amount of a reducing agent in a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) module of a vehicle, the system including: the SCR module having at least one passage for transporting a stream of gas and an SCR catalyst for converting NOx emissions, and having an extension in an axial direction, at least one first antenna unit configured to transmit and receive a microwave signal. Moreover, the first antenna unit is arranged outside the SCR module and configured to transmit microwave signals towards the SCR catalyst and to receive a microwave signal reflected within the SCR module. The system further includes processing circuitry connected to the first antenna unit and configured to determine a difference between the transmitted microwave signal and the received reflected microwave signal and to determine a parameter indicative of the amount of a reducing agent in the SCR catalyst based on the determined difference between the transmitted microwave signal and the received reflected microwave signal. Moreover, the invention relates to a method for determining a parameter indicative of an amount of a reducing agent in a system of a vehicle.

Abstract: A method for controlling the operation of an engine system in a vehicle is provided The engine system includes an engine configured to operate in at least a two-stroke combustion mode and a four-stroke combustion mode, and an exhaust aftertreatment system, EATS configured to reduce emissions from the engine exhausts. The method comprising estimating or predicting the temperature of the EATS; estimating or predicting the emissions out of the EATS; n response of that the temperature of the EATS is below a predetermined temperature threshold, and that the emissions out of the EATS is above a predetermined emission threshold, performing a primary NOx emission reducing activity by operating the engine in a two-stroke combustion mode; subsequently to initiating the operation of the engine in a two-stroke combustion mode, and in response of that the emissions out of the EATS is below the predetermined emission threshold, changing engine operation from the two-stroke combustion mode to a four-stroke combustion mode.

Abstract: A method for controlling the operation of an engine system in a vehicle. The engine system including an engine and an exhaust aftertreatment system having an SCR catalyst and a DPF. The method includes determining preview information of the vehicle operation based at least on an upcoming road event and an engine operation associated with the upcoming road event; performing, in response of the preview information, at least one of: controlling the operation of the engine system by increasing reductant injection to meet an ammonia storage threshold level; controlling the operation of the engine system by increasing the engine out NOx to reduce the ammonia storage in the SCR catalyst to meet an ammonia slip threshold level in the SCR catalyst; controlling the operation of the engine system by decreasing the engine out NOx to increase the amount of engine out particles to meet a soot threshold level in the DPF.

Abstract: A method for timing of a regeneration process of an exhaust gas system of a vehicle engine includes collecting, during operation of the vehicle, data on an exhaust gas regeneration capability as a function of time, establishing, from the collected data, a statistical probability function for the exhaust gas regeneration capability as a function of time, and identifying, from the probability function, one or several time periods that statistically are suitable and/or unsuitable for carrying out a regeneration process. A method for regeneration of an exhaust gas system of a vehicle engine is also provided.

Abstract: A process is provided for regenerating an exhaust gas after-treatment device in an exhaust line of an internal combustion engine arrangement, the exhaust line including a particle filter. The process includes identifying when soot loading of the particle filter exceeds a predetermined level. After that, temperature of exhaust gases at the particle filter is maintained within a first temperature range until at least one of a predetermined period of time has lapsed or a determination is made that soot loading of the particle filter is below the predetermined level. After that, the temperature of the exhaust gases at the particle filter is increased to within a second temperature range above the first temperature range. An internal combustion engine arrangement is also disclosed.
