    摘要: The airflow rate through the induction tube of an internal combustion engine is measured by a first transducer which delivers a set point signal to a control amplifier. The amplifier also receives a feedback signal from a second transducer which monitors the position of a servo-motor controlling the quantity of fuel metered out to the engine. The feedback loop maintains a desired fuel-air ratio and includes provision for calibration and adjustment.

    摘要: A fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine whose air induction tube contains an air flow rate measuring member with non-linear operating characteristics, coupled to a potentiometric transducer which produces the electric command variable for a follower control loop. A control amplifier drives a servomotor which sets the metering slide of a fuel metering valve assembly. The servomotor shaft is coupled to a second potentiometric transducer whose output is compared with the command variable in a bridge circuit connected to the input of the control amplifier. The mechanical link between the servomotor and the fuel metering slide has a non-linearity similar to that of the air flow rate measuring member.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for improving the acceleration behavior of a self-igniting internal combustion engine driven with an exhaust turbocharger by displacing the onset of injection during the acceleration phase toward "early", and a combustion chamber pressure is attained, which at least in part compensates for reduction in engine power caused by sluggishness of the turbocharger and a resultant smaller cylinder charge. Further increase in power is attained by means of an increase in the fuel component made possible by the adjustment of injection onset without exceeding the smoke limit of combustion. Apparatus are furthermore proposed for performing the method according to the invention, in which with the aid of an acceleration signal obtained by hydraulic or electric elements an adjustment toward "early" is effected in a hydraulically functioning injection adjustment device.

    摘要: A fuel metering control loop which includes an exhaust gas sensor and an integrating controller. In order to operate the system at an air number which may differ from the most stable operating point of the oxygen sensor, the output signal from the controller is deliberately changed so as to override the command signals from the oxygen sensor. In particular, the output signal undergoes a step-change toward a higher or lower value at the times of reversal of sensor potential. Thus, the average value of the air number which the controller effectively maintains is different from the nominal value which would be obtained with direct sensor control. In another embodiment, the ongoing integration process is continued for some time beyond the sensor signal reversal.

    摘要: Disclosed is a jolt damping circuit for use in fuel metering systems of an internal combustion engine having self-ignition. The jolt damping circuit includes a guide regulator, a device for generating a jolt disturbance signal in dependency on the rotary speed of the engine, and means for combining the output signal from the guide generator and from the jolt disturbance signal generator to produce a desired value setting signal applicable to regulating means for the setting member of a fuel injection pump. The jolt damping circuit is directly connectable into a standard fuel metering system of a motor vehicle.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for controlling a Diesel engine by limiting the amount of fuel to be admitted to the engine in dependence on engine speed and on the air mass flow rate. The invention provides a primary set of stored data interrelating these variables. The primary data set is used to generate a set-point value for the position of a movable stop member which limits the mechanical travel of the fuel control rack in the fuel injection pump; the control rack is also subject to the action of a mechanical speed governor. Additional corrections of the maximum amount of fuel are made on the basis of air temperature and fuel temperature. Still further refinements include taking into account exhaust gas temperature and engine starting conditions. The final corrected set-point signal is then compared with the output from a position indicator which is attached to the stop member. A servo-controlled element corrects the position of the stop member until the error indications are minimized in a closed loop, feedback control circuit.

    摘要: Associated with the fuel controller of a supercharged diesel engine is a mechanism which limits the maximum fuel quantity in all operational states as defined by engine speed and air flow rate. This mechanism includes a three dimensional cam, displaced in rotation by a first transducer responsive to rpm or air flow rate and further displaced axially by a second transducer responsive to the other of these variables. A cam follower attached to the main fuel control rod of the controller makes contact with and follows the surface of the cam, thereby limiting the maximum fuel quantity admitted to the engine. Special provisions permit an enlarged starting fuel quantity and also permit corrections on the basis of further parameters, such as temperature. Several embodiments are presented.
