A pressure control valve which serves to control a determined medium pressure. The pressure control valve includes a medium chamber with an inlet opening and an outlet opening for the medium to be controlled, separated by a membrane from a spring chamber with a valve spring. On the membrane, a valve member is floatingly disposed via a ball-shaped support member, which acts together with a valve seat. The outlet opening is disposed upstream of the valve seat in such a manner, that during a medium pressure to be controlled the valve member lies upstream of the outlet opening and together with the latter controls the flow of the medium to the valve seat, while during a medium pressure below the valve member descends with throttling action to a greater or lesser degree into the outlet opening and blocks the valve seat at a predetermined lower medium pressure.

A fuel injection system is proposed which is triggerable in such a way that in the presence of control signals, in particular those characterizing engine overrunning, the fuel injection is interrupted. The fuel injection system includes metering valves to each of which one regulating valve is assigned, the valves each having a movable valve element which can be subjected on the one hand to the fuel pressure downstream of the respective metering valve and a spring and on the other hand to the pressure in a control pressure line. In the fuel supply line a pressure-reduction valve is provided upstream of the metering valve. During engine overrunning, the fuel pressure in the control pressure line is controllable by means of an electromagnetic valve in such a way that the fuel pressure in the control pressure line increases and the regulating valves close as a result of which the fuel injection is interrupted.

A fuel injection system is proposed which serves to provide the most precise possible adaptation of the fuel-air mixture to operating conditions of the internal combustion engine. The fuel injection system includes metering valves, each of which is assigned one regulating valve, whose movable valve element can be exposed on the one hand to the fuel pressure downstream of the respective metering valve and on the other hand to the pressure in a control pressure line, which is limited on the one hand by an electro-fluid converter of the nozzle/bounce plate type and on the other hand by a control throttle. The electro-fluid converter is triggerable in accordance with operating characteristics of the engine. A pressure limitation valve is embodied as a diaphragm valve and serves to regulate the most precise possible system pressure in the engine and, when the engine is shut off, it serves to reduce the fuel pressure in the fuel injection system below the fuel pressure required for opening the injection valves and to block the return flow lines.

A diaphragm pressure regulator is proposed which serves to regulate a fluid pressure in a system having fluid flowing through it, and in particular to relate the fuel pressure in a fuel injection system. The diaphragm pressure regulator includes a valve diaphragm, which cooperates with a valve seat. The valve diaphragm separates a spring chamber having a system pressure spring from a system pressure chamber, into which the valve seat, which is axially displaceable and is supported in an axial bearing point, protrudes and which communicates with the fluid to be regulated. The end of the valve seat remote from the valve diaphragm is embodied as a valve plate and protrudes into a collection chamber, in which it opens a sealing seat toward a return flow line to a greater or lesser extent. A closing pressure spring engages the valve plate and urges the valve seat in the direction of the valve diaphragm. When the valve diaphragm is lifted up from the valve seat, fluid flows via a conduit in the valve seat into the collection chamber. A throttle gap is provided between the system pressure chamber and the collection chamber, by way of which throttle gap fluid can flow out to the collection chamber, when the fluid system is shut off, until such time as the valve plate is pressed in a sealing fashion against the sealing seat and blocks the return flow line, which takes place below a predetermined fluid pressure.

In a fuel supply apparatus for an internal combustion engine, a fuel discharging apparatus includes a fuel discharge port opened in an air intake conduit and a fuel valve for injecting a controlled quantity of fuel into the air intake passage through the discharge port. An annular fuel whirling chamber is formed around the fuel valve to receive fuel flow in a tangential direction to cause the fuel flow to whirl within the annular chamber. On the other hand, an annular recess is formed in a passage communicating the discharge port and the fuel valve with each other to forcively feed air to the fuel flowing through the passage. The fuel is thus intensively mixed with air and can be easily atomized upon being injected into the air intake passage through the discharge orifice.

Pressurized fuel is used as a working fluid to operate the air valve. The slide, in turn, controls the effective metering valve apertures of several individual openings, each leading first to an equal pressure diaphragm valve and, hence, to individual fuel injection nozzles.The system includes a differential pressure control valve, which maintains a constant pressure difference across the metering valve apertures in the metering and distribution valve assembly. The system also includes a pressure control valve, responsive to engine parameters, which adjusts the resetting force acting on the control slide in the metering and distribution valve assembly.
