The methods generally involve (a) applying a scattering agent to the ocular device; and (b) imaging the ocular device using optical coherence tomography (OCT). The methods described herein provide useful structural information about the surface of the device with high sensitivity.

摘要: The invention is related to a hydrated silicone hydrogel contact lens having a layered structural configuration: a lower water content silicone hydrogel core (or bulk material) completely covered with a layer of a higher water content hydrogel totally or substantially free of silicone. A hydrated silicone hydrogel contact lens of the invention possesses high oxygen permeability for maintaining the corneal health and a soft, water-rich, lubricious surface for wearing comfort.

摘要: The invention provides a method of making ophthalmic lenses with an enhanced quality and enhanced yield achieved by reducing mold separation force and lens-mold adhesion. The method comprises the steps of generating an atmospheric plasma flow from a working gas and controlling the continuity of the atmospheric plasma flow with a power generator, and, introducing the atmospheric plasma flow to a molding surface of a mold for making an ophthalmic lens (preferably contact lens, more preferably a silicone hydrogel contact lens) and increasing the surface hydrophobicity of the molding surface of the mold and thereby to reduce a mold separation force after molding a lens formulation in the mold.

摘要: Comblike, surfactant polymers for changing the surface properties of biomaterials are provided. Such surfactant polymers comprise a polymeric backbone of repeating monomeric units having functional groups for coupling with side chains, a plurality of hydrophobic side chains linked to the backbone via the functional groups, and a plurality of hydrophilic side chains linked to said backbone via the functional groups. Medical devices coated with the surfactant polymers are also provided. The surfactant polymers may be used to decrease the thrombogenic properties, encapsulation, and bacterial colonization of medical devices.

摘要: The present invention provides an improved LbL-coating process for modifying the surface of a medical device, preferably an ophthalmic device, more preferably a contact lens. An LbL coating on a contact lens, which is prepared according to the process of the invention, can have increased hydrophilicity characterized by an averaged contact angle of about 80 degree or less, preferably about 50 degrees or less, while maintaining the desired bulk properties such as oxygen permeability and ion permeability of lens material.
