An ECU controls the switching valve on the basis of an engine speed and an engine cooling water temperature.

    摘要: An internal combustion engine with a dual turbocharger system which includes an engine, a first and a second turbocharger arranged in parallel with each other, an intake switching valve located downstream of a compressor of the second turbocharger, an exhaust switching valve located downstream of a turbine of the second turbocharger. The engine operation is changed between a "one-turbocharger-operation" wherein only the first turbocharger is operated and a "two-turbocharger-operation" wherein both the first turbocharger and the second turbocharger are operated. Change from the "one-turbocharger-operation" to the "two-turbocharger-operation" is performed on the basis of an intake air quantity, and change from the "two-turbocharger-operation" to the "one-turbocharger-operation" is performed on the basis of an engine speed. This type of change suppresses a torque shock at shift changing during acceleration and improves the drive feeling.

    摘要: An internal combustion engine with a dual turbocharger system includes a first turbocharger and a second turbocharger arranged in parallel with each other. An exhaust switching valve is installed in an exhaust conduit downstream of a turbine of the second turbocharger and is actuated by a single diaphragm actuator. An exhaust bypass conduit is provided so as to bypass the exhaust switching valve, and an exhaust bypass valve is installed in the exhaust bypass conduit. Before the operation is changed from "one-turbocharger-operation" to "two-turbocharger-operation", the exhaust bypass valve is opened before the exhaust switching valve is opened, to suppress a shock which may occur at the transition from the "one-turbocharger-operation" to "two-turbocharger-operation".

    摘要: An exhaust gas purifying apparatus for an internal combustion engine is provided. The apparatus includes a first group of cylinders; a second group of cylinders; an exhaust passage having a first branch passage connected to the first group of cylinders and a second branch passage connected to the second group of cylinders; a communication passage which connects the first branch passage and the second branch passage with each other; an exhaust gas purifying device provided in the exhaust passage and located downstream from a position connected to the communication passage; and an exhaust flow control device for controlling flow of exhaust gas such that exhaust gas emitted from one of the first group of cylinders and the second group of cylinders is introduced into the branch passage connected to the other group of cylinders through the communication passage when a predetermined exhaust flow switching condition is established, wherein a flow-passage cross section of the communication passage is smaller than those of the first branch passage and the second branch passage, and the communication passage is provided with a fuel addition valve for adding fuel to exhaust gas from upstream of the exhaust gas purifying device.

    摘要: An internal combustion engine with a dual turbocharger system includes an engine, a first turbocharger and a second turbocharger arranged in parallel with each other, an intake switching valve located downstream of a compressor of the second turbocharger, and an exhaust switching valve located downstream of a turbine of the second turbocharger. At large intake air quantities, both turbochargers are operated, while at small to medium intake air quantities only the first turbocharger is operated. At "one-turbocharger-operation", when the engine load is low, the intake switching valve is opened, while the exhaust switching valve is maintained closed. Thus, at small to medium intake air quantities and low engine loads, the intake flow can be introduced through both the compressor of the first turbocharger and the compressor of the second turbocharger. As a result, flow resistance is decreased and acceleration response from low engine loads is improved.
