摘要: In some examples of selecting a target therapy delivery site for treating a patient condition, a relatively high frequency electrical stimulation signal is delivered to at least two areas within a first region (e.g., an anterior nucleus of the thalamus) of a brain of a patient, and changes in brain activity (e.g., as indicated by bioelectrical brain signals) within a second region (e.g., a hippocampus) of the brain of the patient in response to the delivered stimulation are determined. The target therapy delivery site, an electrode combination, or both, may be selected based on the changes in brain activity.

摘要: The present disclosure is directed to a system and method for selectively and reversibly modulating targeted neural and non-neural tissue of a nervous system for the treatment of pain. An electrical stimulation is delivered to the treatment site that selectively and reversibly modulates the targeted neutral- and non-neural tissue of the nervous structure, inhibiting the perception of pain while preserving other sensory and motor function, and proprioception.

摘要: Methods and systems for detecting if a stimulation lead implanted in a patient's brain has moved. Lead movement occurring between a first time and a second time may be determined by comparing features extracted from evoked potentials recorded at the two times. The disclosed methods and systems are particularly useful for determining if a stimulation lead has moved between the time it was implanted in the patient's brain and the time that stimulation parameters are being optimized. Lead movement during implantation, during parameter optimization, and during or between other lead optimization processes may be determined as well.

摘要: Patient treatment systems and methods for sensing cardiac depolarization and/or stimulating the carotid sinus nerve are disclosed herein. Exemplary patient treatment systems can include a neuromodulator and an implantable signal delivery device electrically coupleable to the neuromodulator. The signal delivery device comprises a lead body including a first region, a second region positionable over the first region, and lead electrodes. The patient treatment system further comprises computer-readable media having instructions that cause the patient treatment system to perform operations comprising: (i) obtaining a physiological parameter of the patient, (ii) generating neuromodulation pulses based on the obtained physiological parameter, and (iii) delivering the neuromodulation pulses to the CSN afferent fibers via one or more of the lead electrodes. The physiological parameter can include at least one of blood pressure, heart rate, bioimpedance, or activity level of the patient.

摘要: A biocompatible soft pressure sensor comprises: a stretchable top electrode comprising a first elastomeric substrate and a first biocompatible conducting polymer coated on an inner surface of the first elastomeric substrate; a stretchable bottom electrode comprising a second elastomeric substrate including a textured inner surface comprising an array of peaked structures, and a second biocompatible conducting polymer coated on the textured inner surface, where a coated tip of each peaked structure is in contact with the first biocompatible conducting polymer; a top encapsulation layer on an outer surface of the first elastomeric substrate; and a bottom encapsulation layer on an outer surface of the second elastomeric substrate. A resistance measured by the biocompatible soft pressure sensor changes upon exposure to an external pressure.

摘要: An apparatus external to a patient and communicatively coupled to an implant within the patient is disclosed. The apparatus identifies a tentative stimulation parameter adjustment constraint and an absolute stimulation parameter adjustment constraint for a stimulation parameter associated with the implant. The apparatus also determines an impedance of an electrode implanted within the patient and coupled with the implant. Based on the impedance of the electrode, the apparatus automatically adjusts the stimulation parameter within a range between a present value and a first value defined by the tentative stimulation parameter adjustment constraint. Additionally, based on user input manually provided by the patient, the apparatus further adjusts the stimulation parameter within a range between the first value and a second value beyond the first value and defined by the absolute stimulation parameter adjustment constraint. Corresponding apparatuses, systems, and methods are also disclosed.

摘要: An electrical stimulation method for determining the quality of an electrical-stimulation signal is provided in the invention. The electrical stimulation method is adapted for use in an electrical-stimulation device for performing an electrical stimulation. The electrical stimulation method may include the steps of generating the electrical-stimulation signal; sampling the electrical-stimulation signal; performing a fast Fourier transform on the sampled electrical-stimulation signal; and determining whether the signal quality of the electrical-stimulation signal on which the fast Fourier transform was performed meets a threshold.
