摘要： The present invention relates to a process for producing free-flowing, agglomeration resistant amorphous poly-alpha-olefin based adhesive pellets. The process includes (a) extruding the adhesive through an orifice of a die plate immersed in a cooling fluid; (b) cutting the adhesive into a plurality of pellets in the cooling fluid; (c) solidifying the pellets at a temperature range of about 25° C. to about 40° C. for at least 30 minutes; and (d) separating the pellets from the recrystallization fluid and drying the pellets. The pellets harden at least three folds faster than conventionally formed pellets.

摘要： A method for making a biosoluble collagen or gelatin ophthalmic shield, which optionally contains a pharmaceutically active agent, by casting collagen or gelatin in a mold; chilling the mold with the collagen or gelatin shield until the shield is strong enough to allow the mold to be opened without deforming the shield in one half of the mold; drying the collagen or gelatin shield while it is still in the mold; and then cross-linking the collagen or gelatin shield to achieve the desired solubility. The resulting shield can be worn comfortably in the eye and leaves no observable material after complete dissolution and drug release.

摘要： A method is provided for the production and processing of mixtures of pluralities of components based upon reactant synthetic resins, wherein the mixture or at least a part of the components thereof is cooled by addition, and mixing in, of cryogenic liquid gas before or during the subsequent treatment of the mixture until a temperature is reached which allows an essentially dry treatment subsequently. The reactant plastic mixture can be cooled in the liquid state by cryogenic liquid gas to provide granulation or pulverization by cold shock. The mixture can also be cooled by the introduction thereof into a bath of cryogenic liquid gas. The mixture can also be sprayed under pressure, with the sprayed particles then being cooled directly, or indirectly, by cryogenic liquid gas.

摘要： An apparatus for the cooling of objects comprises an upright cylindrical housing having thermally insulated walls and a helical ramp surrounding a column in the housing and along which the objects pass downwardly from an inlet to an outlet. During movement along the ramp, which may be vibrated or oscillated to promote the downward movement of the objects, the latter are chilled to embrittlement temperatures. When the objects are vehicle tires, the pitch of the helical ramp is slightly greater than the diameter of the largest tires to be processed. At the bottom of the ramp the objects may pass into a bath of liquified gas serving as the cooling medium and nozzles can be provided along the lower third of the column for directing jets of the liquefied gas at the objects to be cooled.
