    摘要: The application relates to a plasticizing unit with a cylinder and a screw that is rotatably mounted in the cylinder and has a screw section which is designed as a shearing section and in which a blocking web encircling the screw core in a helical manner and a main screw thread enclosed by the blocking web are provided. A shearing web runs in the main screw thread parallel to the blocking web at a lower height than the blocking web. In this manner, two screw threads are produced which run parallel to each other and are separated by the shearing web. The threads are designed in the form of wave screw threads. Each wave screw thread is equipped with one or more wave peaks with a surface which is designed in the form of a plateau and forms a wave peak shearing surface, wherein the wave peak shearing surface is located at the same height as the surface of the shearing web in the region. The shearing web surface section which lies in the region of a wave peak shearing surface constitutes a shearing web sharing surface. A wave peak shearing surface and a shearing web shearing surface together form a total shearing surface. A specified total shearing surface together with the inner wall of the cylinder forms a shearing gap in accordance with a shearing gap size specified for the total shearing surface.

    摘要: A mixing section for an extrusion screw comprises a shaft having at least one set of spaced-apart cuspidate shaft teeth, with the shaft teeth extending radially outwardly from a root of the shaft. Each of the shaft teeth comprises a flank face and a rake face opposite the flank face, with the tooth transitioning between the flank face and the rake face at an outermost cusp. Some embodiments have one or more longitudinally extending, longitudinally spaced series of annular sets of circumferentially spaced shaft teeth. Some embodiments have one or more helically extending series of spaced-apart cuspidate shaft teeth. The mixing section may be received in a mixing section barrel to form a mixing portion of a screw extruder.

    摘要: Injection molding and blow molding systems that include screws having low L:D ratios are provided. The systems are capable of producing microcellular polymeric materials. In some cases, the systems may be formed by retrofitting conventional polymer processing systems. Retrofitting may involve changing (e.g., machining or replacing) existing components of the conventional system, as well as, adding new components to the system. For example, retrofitting generally involves replacing the conventional polymer processing screw with a new screw designed to satisfy conditions needed for processing microcellular materials. In other cases, the systems may be newly manufactured. The retrofitted or newly manufactured systems of the invention are considerably less expensive than newly manufactured microcellular processing systems having higher L:D ratios.

    摘要: The invention refers to a micro-extrusion line that comprises a single screw (2) micro-extruder (1), a die (7), a cooling bath (17) and a haul-off (19), which together enables the manufacture of extruded profiles from small amounts of raw material. The rotation of the micro-extruder screw, together with the high temperatures created by the heater bands, produces the conveying, melting, mixing and pumping of the material through the die. The extrudate is cooled down in a bath containing a cooling liquid and winded in a coil (19), which has a linear speed higher than that of the extrusion, thus enabling the control of the extrudate cross-section.
