摘要: Single or multiple colorants are infused into a thermoplastic material during melt processing to form preforms and plastic containers exhibiting a marbleized or swirl-type pattern. A base resin and colorant may be fed into an extruder having an extrusion screw and/or barrel modified in a manner to cause incomplete and non-uniform mixing. The modifications may include notches in some of the flights along the extrusion screw, a reduction in the depth or omission of some of the flights, a reduction in diameter of the extrusion screw, or the provision of a marbleizing torpedo near the discharge nozzle. Other techniques include introducing the colorant into vents present along the barrel, using a barrier screw to keep the components separate along the length of the barrel, using a high pressure pump for introducing the colorant near the discharge nozzle, or using multi-material co-injection techniques for co-injecting the base resin and colorant.

摘要: Polymeric composite materials, particularly highly filled polyurethane composite materials are described herein. Such highly filled polyurethane composite materials may be formed by reaction and extrusion of one or more polyols, one or more di- or poly-isocyanates, and from about 45 to about 85 weight percent of inorganic filler such as fly ash. Certain polyols, including plant-based polyols can be used. Certain composite materials also contain chain extenders and/or crosslinkers. The polyurethane composite material may also contain fibers such as chopped or axial fibers which further provide good mechanical properties to the composite material. Shaped articles containing the polyurethane composite material have been found to have good mechanical properties, such that the shaped articles are suitable for building applications.

摘要: A conveyance portion, a barrier portion, and a path are provided at places of a portion of a screw main body in which a kneading portion is provided. In at least one of the places, an entrance is opened to cause raw materials, conveyance of which is limited by a barrier portion to increase pressure on the raw materials, to flow in. The raw materials flowing in from the entrance flow through the path in the opposite direction to a conveyance direction of the conveyance portion. An exit is opened in an outer circumferential surface of the screw main body at a position outside the conveyance portion in which the entrance is opened.

One disclosed example melt pump for building up pressure at a fluid medium is to be used for pressing the medium through a tool. The example melt pump includes a compressor that comprises an inlet and an outlet opening, and at least two worm conveyors disposed in a common housing, where worm flights provided on the worm conveyors are configured in such a manner that a force feed of the medium occurs and where the worm conveyors are drivable by their own drive.

摘要: Methods of extruding polyurethane composite materials are described. One method includes introducing at least one polyol and inorganic filler to a first conveying section of the extruder, transferring the at least one polyol and inorganic filler to a first mixing section of an extruder, mixing the at least one polyol and the inorganic filler in the first mixing section, transferring the mixed at least one polyol and inorganic filler to a second conveying section of the extruder, introducing a di- or poly-isocyanate to the second conveying section, transferring the mixed at least one polyol and inorganic filler and the di- or poly-isocyanate to a second mixing section, mixing the mixed at least one polyol and inorganic filler with the di- or poly-isocyanate in the second mixing section of the extruder to provide a composite mixture, and transferring the composite mixture to an output end of the extruder. Other related methods are also described.

摘要: A kneading segment kneads materials such that insufficiently kneaded portions would not remain as gel. The kneading segment is rotatably disposed on a kneading screw housed in a barrel having an inner cavity, and is provided with a kneading flight which kneads the material in the barrel by rotating according to the kneading screw's rotation. The top surface of the kneading flight is formed with a concaved cutout section. The cutout section is surrounded by two side surfaces, which face the axial direction, and a bottom surface, which is disposed between the side surfaces. The bottom surface of the cutout section is formed in a tilted planar shape in relation to the top surface. The opening of the cutout section, which faces one side of the rotational direction of the kneading screw, has a larger area than the opening which faces the other side.
