Abstract:
A tire and membrane system includes a tire, an electronics package, and a membrane body attached to the electronics package. A width of the membrane body is less than 120% of a width of a tread of the tire. A length of the membrane body is less than 50% of a circumference of the tire. A bottom surface of the membrane body is configured to lie flat against an inner surface of the tire. The membrane body is not attached to the tire.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are automated systems and methods utilizing a plurality of specialized RFID tags incorporated within various tire manufacturing components (e.g., mold segments, mold container, bladder plates, tire presses, and extrusion dies) that are able to readily track tire manufacture and identify defect source(s) while concurrently being configured to the harsh processes and temperatures of tire manufacture.
Abstract:
A tire equipped with a sensor patch includes a sensor module and a sensor patch. The sensor patch is formed integrally with the inner liner of the tire by being vulcanized into the inner circumferential surface, and an accommodation space is formed in a region so that the sensor module can be fixed therein. A sensor patch is integrated with the inner liner without damaging the inner liner, and thus the sensor patch can be strongly bound to the tire. Furthermore, since the sensor patch is formed to have a thickness smaller than the thickness of the inner liner, when the sensor patch is vulcanized into the inner liner, the pressure of the bladder being exerted locally non-uniformly on the inner liner can be prevented.
Abstract:
An electronic assembly, which is intended for installation in a tire, includes an electronic device and a transition layer. The electronic device includes an electronic member and at least one antenna fixed to a support of the electronic member. Each antenna includes a free part, which is free with respect to the support, joined to a fixing part, which fixes the antenna to the support. The transition layer is formed of a composition that includes 9 to 13 parts of sulfur per hundred parts by weight of elastomer. The transition layer coats at least a junction between the free part and the fixing part of each antenna.
Abstract:
A flat IC tag contains memory means capable of data storage and transmission means capable of data transmission. The IC tag has on a surface thereof an unvulcanized rubber having identical properties to the unvulcanized rubber used for an article to which the IC tag is mounted. The opposite surface of the IC tag is mounted to the article before vulcanization. The article is vulcanized in this state to mount the IC tag to the article. Hence, the IC tag is not damaged if attached to tires and other articles in harsh operating environment.
Abstract:
A strain-resistant electrical connection and a method of making the same is provided. A wire or other conductive lead is connected to a circuit in a manner that makes the connection more resistant to mechanical stresses such as movement or rotation of the lead relative to the circuit. A material is configured around the lead and near the point of connection to the circuit so as to create a region of decreasing flexibility or graduated stiffness near the point of connection. In certain embodiments, the lead may also be coiled or otherwise shaped to provide additional ability to withstand mechanical stresses.
Abstract:
A tire includes a central region configured to be mounted to a wheel and a crown region including a circumferential tread and a shear element disposed below the circumferential tread. The shear element includes an upper reinforcement layer, a lower reinforcement layer, and an elastic region disposed between the upper reinforcement layer and the lower reinforcement layer. A radial distance between the upper reinforcement layer and the lower reinforcement layer varies along an axial width of the tire. The tire also includes an intermediate region extending from the central region to the crown region.
Abstract:
A sensor housing for mounting in a vehicle wheel, preferably a motor vehicle wheel and preferably on an inside of a tire of the wheel, is provided. The sensor housing includes a base surface for securing the sensor housing in the inner chamber of a wheel, a receiving area having a recess for receiving a sensor, and a predetermined breaking point for breaking open the receiving area and thus for releasing the sensor from the receiving area, preferably in a manner that prevents reuse of the sensor housing. A sensor arrangement including the sensor housing and a sensor received therein is also provided.
Abstract:
Identification labels and their incorporation in rubber-based articles are described. The labels include RFID components and can be incorporated in tires. The labels can withstand the relatively harsh conditions associated with vulcanization.
Abstract:
The RF tag known in the art incorporated in a tire has a problem that it can easily get distorted when the stresses occurring in the running tire converge on its vicinity. The present invention provides a tire (1) configured to prevent distortion from occurring in the RF tag (50) incorporated therein. The tire (1) includes an RF tag structure (50A) which is constructed of the RF tag (50) covered with a coating rubber (51). The modulus of elasticity of the coating rubber (51) is higher than that of the rubbers of the adjacent members (13, 32) located adjacently on the respective axial sides of the coating rubber (51).
