    摘要: A mold assembly includes a support table mounted for rotation within a vacuum chamber. A plurality of hollow part molds is radially disposed about an axis of rotation of the support table. Each part mold has fiber architecture disposed between an inflatable bladder and internal walls of the part mold. A first motor rotates the support table and resin is urged by centrifugal force to flow along the length of each part mold until the fiber architecture is thoroughly impregnated with resin. A second motor spins each part mold about an axis of rotation of the part mold to ensure that the resin migrates radially outwardly relative to the interior wall surface of each part mold. The resulting product is a monolithic, seamless part having no voids.

    摘要: This is a vasoocclusive device which, as used, is in the approximate shape of an anatomical cavity. It may be deployed as a sphere, an ovoid, or other distorted spherical shape. The device is a self-forming shape made from a pre-formed vasoocclusion member. Prior to deployment, the vasoocclusive device is sufficiently straight that it is able to be pushed from a vascular catheter without excessive friction. The vasoocclusion member may be a small helical coil or braid variously comprising a suitable metal, or, in the case of a braid, such metal may be co-woven with various polymeric or natural fibers. Fibers may be introduced onto the device and affixed to the member. The constituent member may be also be covered with a fibrous braid. The device is typically introduced through a catheter. The device is passed axially through the catheter sheath and assumes its form upon exiting the catheter without further action. The invention also includes methods of winding the anatomically shaped vasoocclusive device into appropriately shaped forms and annealing them to form various devices.

    摘要: A ball sealer for hydrocarbon resource recovery, comprising: a generally spherical entire structure including at least two layers of a spherical core and a surface resin layer covering the spherical core, of which at least the surface resin layer comprises a polyglycolic acid resin; and having a diameter of at least about 25 mm (1 inch). The ball sealer is produced through a process comprising the steps of: disposing a spherical core by a support pin at a substantially central position within a mold cavity, injecting a surface resin comprising a polyglycolic acid resin into the cavity surrounding the spherical core, causing the support pin to retreat up to a wall surface of mold cavity in synchronism with a completion of the injection of the surface resin, and then hardening the surface resin. As a result, it is possible to produce a large-diameter ball sealer suitable for use in the hydraulic fracturing process (hydraulic fracturing) widely used for recovery of hydrocarbon resources by using a polyglycolic acid resin which is a biodegradable resin having good mechanical strengths and a good size designability at least as a surface-forming resin, through relatively simple steps and with good dimensional accuracy.
