A system for adjusting a path of a wire includes a precast pulley assembly having at least one precast pulley having at least first and second positions. The at least one precast pulley may be adjustable from the first position to the second position without a user touching the at least one precast pulley. A path of a wire is adjusted when disposed around the at least one precast pulley when it is in the second position instead of in the first position. In one embodiment, the precast pulley assembly includes first and second precast pulleys disposed in an adjacent relationship with respect to one another, wherein a wire can selectively pass over one or both of the first and second precast pulleys.

A cylinder for guiding yarn comprises a hollow-cylindrical jacket seated on a support by radially acting magnetic bearings having plural pole windings distributed circumferentially. The cylinder jacket position is detected by plural sensors coupled with the pole windings by a control unit. The sensors are spaced from the cylinder jacket and from the support for determining the actual position of the cylinder jacket relative to a stationary reference position. Vibrations of the cylinder jacket are damped by determining the actual position of the cylinder jacket in relation to a stationary reference position and the chronological change of the actual position as a function of the rotary frequency of the cylinder jacket. Control signals for the magnetic bearing are generated to cause the magnetic bearing to counteract the position change of the cylinderjacket.

Adjacent to a positive feeding device 14, the tubing 13 includes a section 15 which can be closed for initial blowing of the yarn through the tube, and opened to allow threading of the yarn 10 around the feeding device 14. This facilitates initial feeding of the yarn to the knitting machine, and also helps in the control of loose fly or lint generated from the yarn 10. The section 15 includes a tensioning device (30, not shown) for the yarn.

The drive is transmitted from one wheel to the other through the centering disc.
