摘要: In some embodiments, the present disclosure pertains to systems and methods for distilling a fluid by exposing the fluid to a porous membrane that includes a surface capable of generating heat. In some embodiments, the heat generated at the surface propagates the distilling of the fluid by converting the fluid to a vapor that flows through the porous membrane and condenses to a distillate. In some embodiments, the surface capable of generating heat is associated with a photo-thermal composition that generates the heat at the surface by converting light energy from a light source to thermal energy. In some embodiments, the photo-thermal composition includes, without limitation, noble metals, semiconducting materials, dielectric materials, carbon-based materials, composite materials, nanocomposite materials, nanoparticles, hydrophilic materials, polymers, fibers, meshes, fiber meshes, hydrogels, hydrogel meshes, nanomaterials, and combinations thereof. Further embodiments pertain to methods of making the porous membranes of the present disclosure.

摘要: We disclose a device for the production of hydrogen from water using heat. The device employs thermal water splitting and works essentially without electricity. It is based on the concept of a membrane reactor with two kinds of membranes allowing the separation of hydrogen and oxygen simultaneously in stoichiometric quantities from the reactor volume. The device has a special geometry resulting in a temperature distribution inside the reaction chamber to accommodate the use of hydrogen selective membranes. The device will help to reduce the need for hydrogen transport and storage as it will be rather compact for on-site use in households, small factories or gas stations. The use of the device in mobile applications is conceivable. The heat source of the device as described is combustion of a hydrocarbon using porous burner technology; however the device can be modified to exploit any other heat source, especially solar radiation.

摘要: A method for producing clean water and electricity, in which water to be cleaned undergoes membrane distillation through one or several units (1) including a first wall (2) that is impermeable to water and has the form of a sheet, a membrane (3) through which water in the gaseous phase can pass, and through which water in fluid phase cannot pass, and a second wall (4) in the form of a sheet. The walls are located on different sides of and at a certain distance from the membrane (3), where water is led in between the first wall (2) and the membrane (3),and where the second wall is caused to be colder than the water. The first wall (2) acts as a solar cell panel (8) with electrically active layers (9) facing away from the membrane, and the solar cell panel is located such that it is illuminated by sunlight.
