A water-in-oil emulsion is a product form having many practical advantages. A vinylamine-based macromolecule having specific effects as papermaking chemicals and a flocculant is provided in the form of a water-in-oil emulsion having good storage stability and high performance as a flocculation treatment agent. Disclosed is a flocculation treatment agent including a water-in-oil emulsion of a water-soluble macromolecule that is produced by subjecting a water-in-oil emulsion of an aqueous poly-N-vinylcarboxylic acid amide solution coexisting with a polyoxyalkylene alkyl ether to hydrolysis in the presence of an acid or a base. Preferably, the polyoxyalkylene alkyl ether is added before the hydrolysis reaction.

The present invention provides a process for deinking printed waste paper comprising the steps of: a) converting the printed waste paper to an aqueous pulp slurry in a pulper, where ink is detached from paper pulp; b) subjecting the pulp slurry to flotation in order to remove hydrophobic contaminants including ink from the pulp slurry, said flotation being carried out in the presence of a deinking chemical additive comprising modified silica obtained by treating hydrophilic silica particles with a hydrophobic organic liquid or modified metal silicate obtained by treating hydrophilic metal silicate particles with a hydrophobic organic liquid or a mixture of such modified silica and modified metal silicate. The present invention increases the yield of the flotation step without affecting the brightness of the flotation accept.

In a method of recycling printed paper, the collector chemical composition used to aid ink removal after pulping of the paper advantageously comprises an aqueous emulsion of a polysiloxane and a delivery aid for the polysiloxane, the delivery aid comprising one of more compounds selected from an alkali metal salt of a fatty acid moiety, and a nitrogenous salt of a fatty acid moiety, and a water-swellable polymer. The collector chemical composition is effective at low concentration, gives good brightness gain, low level of fibre loss, and effluent water low in siliceous material.

There is provided an endoglucanase enzyme, which is useful for reducing fuzz of regenerated cellulose-containing fabrics, improving the touch and appearance, color clarification, localized variation in color, reducing stiffness and using it as components of a detergent, as well as deinking waste paper and improving freeness of paper pulp. A cDNA coding for the endoglucanase enzyme NCE5 was cloned and its DNA sequence and amino acid sequence derived from it were determined.

The use of fatty acid oxidizing enzymes in the manufacture of paper materials, such as paper, linerboard, corrugated paperboard, tissue, towels, corrugated containers and boxes. Examples of fatty acid oxidizing enzymes are oxygenases classified as EC 1.13.11. including any of the sub-classes thereof, such as lipoxygenase, EC 1.13.11.12. The effect of these enzymes is that the deposition of pitch is reduced, and bleaching and de-inking effects are also observed on the paper pulp and the resulting paper material. The fatty acid oxidizing enzyme can be used in combination with a substrate, with proteases, lipases, xylanases, cutinases, oxidoreductases, cellulases, endoglucanases amylases, mannanases, steryl esterases, and/or cholesterol esterases; or with surfactants and other adjuvants.
