    摘要: A method which develops a supercritical combustion chamber environment and combines fumigation and water conversion to superheated steam to effect greater fuel efficiency and reduce exhaust gas pollutants from a compression ignition engine. The invention utilizes the fumigant method by combining two gases (DME and heptane) which autoignite prior to the injection of the liquid water. This pre-combustion of the fumigant gases combined with the engine's compression of the combustion chamber gases is managed to attain a supercritical combustion chamber environment into which the liquid water is injected. This targeted supercritical combustion chamber environment causes the water to become a superheated steam, resulting in significantly greater efficiency and negligible exhaust gas pollutants resulting from the steam engine.

    摘要: Provided herein are rotary valve assemblies, engines, and corresponding methods. A rotary valve assembly may include a valve housing defining a cylindrical bore, an inlet, and an outlet. The valve assembly may further include an intake assembly and a throttle assembly arranged concentrically within the cylindrical bore of the valve housing, and the intake assembly and the throttle assembly may rotate independently of one another with respect to a longitudinal axis. During operation of the rotary valve assembly, the valve housing may permit fluid to enter the cylindrical bore of the valve housing via the inlet, the intake assembly may rotate to permit the fluid to flow through the at least one intake inlet port and the at least one throttle inlet port into the throttle body, and the intake assembly may permit the fluid to flow to the outlet from the throttle body.

    摘要: A thermal engine includes an expansion fluid pump which propels water from an expansion fluid tank into an electrolytic cell having an anode and a cathode, which generates a quantity of oxyhydrogen from the water; and propels the oxyhydrogen into one of an engine cylinder and an exhaust chamber, whereupon oxyhydrogen propelled into the cylinder expands abruptly into steam in the intake chamber to increase pressure within the cylinder and thereby enhance thermal engine power, and oxyhydrogen propelled into the heat exchanger cools the water vapor back into liquid water, which generates a vacuum within the exhaust chamber to increase the power of the thermal engine.

    摘要: Improvements to the steam engine for the purpose of small scale generation of electricity using biomass fuels and for co-generation of heat and electricity using biomass fuels in both developed and less developed countries are described. The engine is particularly well adapted to co-generation where the thermal load, as in building heating and many process applications, is extremely variable, because of its ability to operate efficiently under partial load. For the same reason, it would be suited to solar generated steam. Experiments have been conducted with steam as the working fluid. The design may in some or all respects be applied to other working fluids.

    摘要: An engine includes a radial arrangement of cylinders each having a reciprocating piston with a piston head and a connecting rod pivotally linked to the piston head at an upper end. A lower end of each connecting rod is pivotally linked to a crank disk that is rotatably mounted on a crank arm of a crankshaft. Steam intake valves at each cylinder are momentarily opened by a bearing cam roller that is moved in a circular path by rotation of the crank disk to sequentially engage spring urged cam followers on inboard ends of radially extending valve stems. Low pressure steam or gas is injected into the top of each cylinder, as the intake valves of the cylinders are opened in sequence, thereby forcing the piston in each cylinder through a power stroke to move the crank disk and turn the crankshaft. Angular displacement of each connecting rod through the return stroke of the piston urges an exhaust reed valve on the piston head to an open position, thereby releasing exhaust steam to a condenser chamber. The engine is self-starting and operates in a low pressure, low temperature range, using waste heat from an external source, such as exhaust from an internal combustion engine, burning of refuse (e.g. garbage or other solid waste material) or solar heat.

    摘要: A Rankine cycle system includes a first Rankine cycle (2A) operated by a first working medium and a second Rankine cycle (2B) operated by a second working medium. The first Rankine cycle (2A) is constituted from an evaporator (3A), an expander (4), a condenser (5A) and a supply pump (6A), and the second Rankine cycle (2B) is constituted from an evaporator (3B), the expander (4), a condenser (5B) and a supply pump (6c). The evaporator (3A) in the first Rankine cycle (2A) and the evaporator (3B) in the second Rankine cycle (2B) are disposed at locations upstream and downstream of an exhaust emission control device (8) mounted in an exhaust passage (7) for the internal combustion engine (1). The first working medium has a boiling point higher than that of the second working medium, and the capacity of the pump (6A) in at least the first Rankine cycle (2A) is variable. Thus, the efficiency of recovery of a waste heat from the internal combustion engine by the Rankine cycle system can be enhanced to the maximum, and the activation of the exhaust emission control device can be promoted.
