    摘要: A method of forming a structural oil pan via lost core molding is disclosed. The structural oil pan comprises a bracket portion configured for mounting to the vehicle, a pan portion integrated with the bracket portion and defining an oil reservoir, and a structural section formed via lost core molding and defining a cavity. The method comprises the step of lost core molding by forming a metal core, molding the bracket portion and/or the pan portion about the metal core, and removing the metal core to form the structural section in at least one of the bracket portion and the pan portion. The method also includes co-molding the bracket portion and the pan portion together to form the structural oil pan.

    摘要: A power unit having a crankcase and peripheral devices wherein a driving source for a gear shifting device is disposed so as to be displaced below the crankcase. An engine includes a gear speed change mechanism having a plurality of gear pairs for changing the speed of a rotational force of a crankshaft. A gear shifting device includes at least a plate-shaped shift arm rocking about a shift spindle to perform a gear pair changing operation on the gear speed change mechanism. A crankcase houses the gear speed change mechanism and the gear shifting device with an oil pan attached to a lower portion of the crankcase. A communicating hole communicating with the oil pan is formed in a bottom portion of the crankcase with the bottom portion being located below the shift arm, and a rocking range of the shift arm partly overlaps the communicating hole.

    摘要: An oil sump for a vertically shafted combustion engine has a housing with an upper face for sealing against a block of the engine. The sump housing defines an internal volume for containing a quantity of oil received from the engine through an oil drain opening in the upper face of the sump, and defines an exhaust inlet for receiving a flow of exhaust from the engine and directing the flow of exhaust toward an exhaust outlet along an exhaust passage defined within the housing. The housing also defines a water inlet for receiving a flow of cooling water into a water passage within the housing about the exhaust passage. The sump also includes means for securely mounting the engine within a boat hull. In some marine applications, seawater or fresh water coolant is discharged into the exhaust gas stream at an attached exhaust elbow.

The heat exchanger is mounted in the outer wall (5) of the housing and comprises two chambers (6, 7) which are mutually separated by a liquid-impervous partition wall (8) which comprises part of the housing wall. The inwardly located chamber (7) is through-passed by the liquid medium (3) enclosed in the housing, while the outwardly located chamber (6) is through-passed by a cooling medium. The heat exchanger (4) is so positioned that a pressure difference is created between the inlet (13) and the outlet (16) of the inwardly located chamber (7) under the influence of movement of the movable mechanical elements (2) therewith obviating the need of a separate pump for driving the medium (3) to be cooled through the heat exchanger.
