Abstract:
In an internal combustion engine (2) of a portable handheld work apparatus, the cylinder (3) is provided with cooling ribs (4, 4′). A cooling airflow is generated by the fan wheel (13) and is guided over the cooling ribs. A carburetor (9) is temperaturized as required by the heated cooling air. A control of the cooling airflow to the carburetor (9) takes place in that an opening (11), which passes the heated cooling air, is selectively closed or opened via a closure element (12). In order to obtain improved cooling of the cylinder during summer operation as well as during winter operation, the closure element (12) is provided with at least one air guide wall which extends essentially transversely to the cooling airflow and causes this cooling air to be partially backed up and deflected.
Abstract:
A top plate is provided in a top portion of a cylinder block of a combustion engine of a type, provided with a cooling fan, so as to lie perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of an engine cylinder. An intake side gasket interposed between the cylinder block and an intake unit is extended upwardly to contact the top plate to thereby seal a gap between the top plate and the intake side gasket. An exhaust side gasket interposed between the cylinder block and an exhaust unit is extended upwardly to contact the top plate to thereby seal a gap between the top plate and the exhaust side gasket. A cooling passage for passing therethrough a cooling air from the cooling fan is formed by the cylinder block, the top plate, the intake side gasket and the exhaust side gasket.
Abstract:
An air-cooled engine includes a cylinder provided with a plurality of cooling fins at an outer peripheral surface of the cylinder, a cooling fan, a cylinder cover covering the cylinder, an air guide plate, and an air guide portion. The air guide plate is positioned between an inner surface of the cylinder cover and the fins. The cooling fan generates cooling air stream for cooling the cylinder, and the air guide plate is configured to guide the cooling air stream to flow through a space between the inner surface of the cylinder cover and the fins. A first small space is defined between the air guide plate and the inner surface of the cylinder cover. The air guide portion covers at least a part of the first small space at an upstream side of the air guide plate in the axial direction of the drive shaft.
Abstract:
An engine includes a crankcase, a cylinder block, a cylinder head, a piston, a cooling fan, and a shroud having an inner wall portion and an outer wall portion. A suction port is provided in a region of the outer wall portion facing the cooling fan. The inner and outer wall portions define a duct extending from the suction port to reach at least a portion of the cylinder block and/or at least a portion of the cylinder head.
Abstract:
A two-wheeled vehicle includes a frame having a front frame portion, a mid-frame portion, and a rear frame portion. The mid-frame portion is coupled to the rear frame portion and the front frame portion. The vehicle further includes a plurality of ground-engaging members for supporting the frame. The engine includes an air deflector to assist in cooling a rear cylinder of a V-twin engine. An accessory windshield is also shown which may be coupled to the handlebars and front forks of the vehicle. Also, a rear accessory attachment is shown mountable to the rear fender.
Abstract:
A forced air-cooled engine includes a crankcase, a cylinder block, a cylinder head, a cooling fan, and a shroud arranged to cover a portion of the crankcase, the cooling fan, and a portion of the cylinder block and a portion of the cylinder head. Fins are provided at least in a region of the cylinder block covered by the shroud. The shroud includes a facing wall portion that faces the fins . An exhaust opening is provided between the facing wall portion and the cylinder block, and opens away from the cooling fan.

Abstract:
A motor-driven implement such as a hand-held tool or device for garden and landscape maintenance, includes an internal combustion engine having at least one cylinder and at least one carburettor, which is disposed in a carburettor chamber, is separated by an intermediate wall from an engine compartment. A housing is provided which at least partially encloses the engine compartment so that an upper part of the cylinder extends in the direction of the housing, and a fan wheel is further provided by which means air from the engine compartment can be introduced through a warm air opening in the intermediate wall into the carburettor chamber. For the motor-driven implement to have an improved carburettor pre-heating which enables easier operation, it is proposed that the warm air opening is disposed in the area of the intermediate wall which is disposed adjacently to the upper part of the cylinder.

Abstract:
An engine apparatus includes an exhaust gas purifier configured to purify exhaust gas from an engine. The exhaust gas purifier is mounted on the engine with a longitudinal direction of the exhaust gas purifier being orthogonal to an output shaft of the engine. A cooling fan is disposed on one side surface of the engine that intersects the output shaft. The exhaust gas purifier is supported by a cylinder head at a portion on an upper surface of the engine that is closer to the cooling fan.
