Abstract:
A valve device includes a body that defines a passage through which a fluid flows, a shaft that is movably supported with respect to the body and defines an axis, a valve element that is fixed to the shaft to open and close the passage; and a cylindrical bearing bush that movably supports the shaft with respect to the body, in which the bearing bush includes a mixed region in which a metal core material and expanded graphite are mixed with each other, and a first expanded graphite region made of only the expanded graphite such that the metal core material is not exposed in an inner circumferential side region in contact with an outer circumferential surface of the shaft.
Abstract:
A positive displacement pump is provided that includes a pump housing having a pump chamber; a plunger mounted in the pump housing for reciprocating motion in the pump chamber; a suction valve positioned to allow a fluid to enter the pump chamber upon movement of the plunger in a first direction; a discharge valve positioned to discharge the fluid from the pump chamber upon movement of the plunger in a second direction; and at least one sensor enclosed by the pump housing for measuring at least one pump condition parameter.
Abstract:
A reciprocating pump system is utilized. The system facilitates the prediction of failure modes due to degradation of pump components. A sensor system is used to monitor parameters indicative of abnormal events or wear occurring in specific components, such as pump valves. The indications of wear can be used to predict valve failure or other component failure within the reciprocating pump.
Abstract:
A fluid end is formed from a first body attached to a separate second body. Each body includes an external surface. When the bodies are attached, their respective external surfaces are in flush engagement. A plurality of bores are formed in the second body that are alignable with a plurality of corresponding bores formed in the first body. The fluid end may be used with seals disposed within recesses within each bore to seal against corresponding sealing surfaces. Further, retaining closures may be bolted to the fluid end bodies, such that the closures have a threadless connection to the fluid end bodies. Various combinations of such components may be utilized.
Abstract:
A monitoring system may include a position sensor, strain gauges, and a computing device for monitoring valves in a pressure pump having multiple chambers to determine critical valve limits for the valves using strain measurements for each charmber. The strain gauges may determine strain in each chamber of the pressure pump. The position sensor may determine the position of a crankshaft mechanically coupled to a plunger in each chamber. The computing device may receive signals generated by the strain gauges and the position sensor related to the strain in each chamber and the position of the crankshaft, respectively, and may process the signals to determine delays in the actuation of the valves for determining critical valve limits.
Abstract:
A method for monitoring a condition of at least one valve positioned with respect to at least one of a first chamber and a second chamber of a reciprocating compressor is provided. The method includes establishing a compressor operation cycle including a valve opening event, a valve closing event and/or a rod reversal event. A crank angle is determined at each of the valve opening event, the valve closing event and/or the rod reversal event during the compressor operation cycle using at least one of a static pressure input and a machine speed input. The method further include diagnosing a valve leak condition during the compressor operation cycle at the valve closing event, wherein the at least one valve is closed.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to the compressors technological field used preferentially in cooling systems. Problem to be solved: Difficulty in detecting improper opening of the high pressure suction valve in multiple suction reciprocating compressor and, in more severe cases, interrupts operation of low pressure line(s). Problem resolution: Implementation of method which monitors at least one variable proportional to electrical engine torque, and based on detection of at least on positive peak of said variable proportional to torque of said electrical engine, identify and/or detects—in real time—improper opening of the valve.
Abstract:
Detecting a failure mode of a fluid flow controller configured to control fluid flow between first and second chambers of a downhole positive displacement pump and a flow line, wherein the positive displacement pump comprises a piston moving in an axial reciprocating motion, and subsequently adjusting operation of the downhole positive displacement pump based on the detected failure mode such that the downhole positive displacement pump piston operates differently in different axial directions.
