摘要: A drive unit is disclosed that includes case portions, a gasket interposed between the case portions, shafts, bearings having respective bearing races, and a bearing shim plate. One shaft includes an input oil tube which provides a fluid pathway between the bearing shim plate and a rotor of the drive unit. Interposed between bearings, and the bearing shim plate, are shims. An approach for sizing shims for use with a drive unit is also disclosed, the approach including determining the distance from a mating flange of a case portion, to different bearing races, selecting shims based on the determined distances, and attaching the bearing shim plate to the case portion with shims interposed therebetween.

摘要: A vehicular propeller shaft is configured to transmit a rotational force output from a drive force source to drive wheels. The vehicular propeller shaft includes a stepped pipe-shaped member including a compressive load weakest part with respect to an axial compressive load of the vehicular propeller shaft and a torsional load weakest part with respect to a torsional load around an axis of the vehicular propeller shaft. The compressive load weakest part and the torsional load weakest part are positioned apart from each other in a radial direction of the stepped pipe-shaped member.

摘要: An intermediate bearing for a drive shaft train of a motor vehicle has an elastic bearing body which has a bore and a supporting ring which is arranged in the bore and has a receiving space for receiving an anti-friction bearing. The receiving space defines a longitudinal axis, and two sealing washers which are spaced apart axially from one another and have in each case one central opening for receiving a drive component. The supporting ring is arranged between the two sealing washers. The sealing washers have in each case one groove which extends concentrically with respect to the longitudinal axis. The supporting ring engages into the two grooves of the sealing washers.

Additionally, the drivetrain assembly may include a shaft received within the pillow block bearing assembly, with the shaft extending through the bearing such that an outer circumferential surface of the shaft directly contacts an inner circumferential surface of an inner race of the bearing at a bearing/shaft interface defined between the shaft and the bearing. Moreover, a sliding fit may be defined between the outer circumferential surface of the shaft and the inner circumferential surface of the inner race at the bearing/shaft interface such that the shaft is allowed to slide axially relative to the bearing when a given axial load is applied through the shaft.

摘要: Bearing assemblies and methods of forming the same are disclosed. The bearing assembly may include an outer bearing ring having a first outer diameter and defining an outer race and a radially outer surface. A radial extension may be coupled to the radially outer surface of the outer bearing ring to expand an outer diameter of the bearing assembly from the first outer diameter to a larger second outer diameter. The second outer diameter may be configured to correspond to a diameter of a housing cavity that is larger than the first diameter such that the bearing assembly can be coupled to the housing (e.g., press fit into the housing). The radial extension may be over-molded or press fit onto the outer bearing ring. The radial extension may be formed of a material less dense than the outer bearing ring, such as a polymer or elastomer.

摘要: A method and assembly for preventing corrosion between two work pieces. At least a portion of a neck portion of a second end portion of an end piece is disposed within a hollow portion in a first end portion of a drive shaft tube. The inner surface of the first end portion of the drive shaft tube is magnetic pulse welded to a first tapered portion of the neck portion of the end piece. A coating and a sacrificial material is applied over an interface between an end surface of said first end portion of said drive shaft and said end piece defining a gap. The coating and sacrificial material is then leveled and a shrink-wrap material is disposed radially outboard from the gap. Finally, heat is applied to the shrink-wrap material sealing said gap.

摘要: A shaft balancing device for insertion into a shaft including a generally flat cylindrical band having an outer surface, an inner surface and a set of two crush points thereon. A balancing weight is attached to the outer surface of the band between the set of crush points. The device is inserted into the shaft and the crush points are plastically deformed radially outward creating spring force which holds the balancing weight to the inner surface of the shaft. The band has a curved connecting portion between the two crush points having a radius of curvature slightly greater than the curvature of the shaft. The balancing weight has a radius of curvature slightly greater than the radius of curvature of the curved connecting portion and slightly less than the radius of curvature of the shaft.

摘要: A shaft assembly includes one or more axially-arranged plies having a plurality of bundles of strands. Each strand is formed of a ultra-high modulus carbon fiber material. One or more strands of glass fiber are wrapped around each bundle of the plurality of bundles. A volume of resin injected into the one or more axially-arranged plies and the assembly is cured via a resin transfer molding process. A method of forming a shaft assembly includes arranging a plurality of strands of ultra-high modulus carbon fiber material into a plurality of bundles. Each bundle of the plurality of bundles is wrapped with one or more strands of glass fiber material. The plurality of bundles are arranged into one or more axially-extending plies at a mandrel. A volume of resin is injected into the plurality of bundles and is cured to form the shaft assembly.
