A second lookup table provides a gross slip multiplier value based on a ratio bin torque offset value for a transmission ratio range. An adjusted error count is created by multiplying the gross slip multiplier value by the lookup table output.

Provided is an automotive transmission control device in which a shift range signal can be generated as accurately as possible and control of vehicle travel can be maintained even when a signal input port for a computation device develops a fault. The automotive transmission control device according to the present invention: is provided with three input ports for receiving shift range signals; and provisionally determines the shift range state by the majority decision of the input ports, estimates the shift range state on the basis of the travel state of the vehicle, and performs a final determination of the shift range state by using both the provisional determination and the estimation.

A method of controlling and regulating a transmission brake which, for the purpose of synchronization, determines a target rotational speed of a shaft to be synchronized on the basis of an actual rotational speed of a transmission shaft, and controls a transmission brake such that the determined target rotational speed is set for the shaft that is to be synchronized. The transmission brake also carries out additional functions. These functions require no, or only minimal, additional hardware complexity in a cost-neutral way, but considerably increase the functional and practical value of the transmission brake. The comfort and speed of shifting operations, the protection or, as the case may be, the detection of error states in sensors, a clutch, a main clutch or a motor control are improved, and undesirable transmission states avoided. It is also possible to account for and influence other conditions, such as the operation of ancillary devices.

A vehicle includes a shift sensor and an ECU that switches a shift range based on a combination of shift signals received from the shift sensor. The ECU includes a determining unit and a switching unit. The determining unit determines, based on how a shift signal pattern has changed (the number and type of shift signals that have changed), whether or not to execute first fail-safe traveling in which a shift range before occurrence of a shift abnormality is maintained. In the event of a shift abnormality, in a case where execution of the first fail-safe traveling is permitted, the switching unit executes the first fail-safe traveling to maintain a shift range before occurrence of the shift abnormality, and in a case where execution of the first fail-safe traveling is prohibited, the switching unit executes second fail-safe traveling to switch a shift range to an N range.
