Abstract: In imaging radar, examples are directed to uses of multiple sets of transmit antenna included with transceiver circuitry, for transmitting in a plurality of modes. Transmissions may involve having at least one transmit antenna, from each of at least two of the multiple sets, to transmit continuous-wave energy concurrently (simultaneously) in one or more of the plurality of different modes. Transceiver circuitry may include multiple receive antennas which may be receiving reflections of the continuous-wave energy from various targets. Signals from the multiple receive antennas may route to signal processing circuitry. The signal processing circuitry may respond to the received reflections of the continuous-wave energy by assessing differences in antenna gain and/or phase due to transmit antenna position associated with the received reflections. This signal processing assessment may mitigate or resolve at least one spatial ambiguity in at least one direction of arrival dimension associated with the received reflections.

Abstract: A radar system includes a transmitter, a receiver, and a processor. The transmitter transmits continuous wave radio signals. The receiver receives radio signals that includes the transmitted radio signal reflected from targets in an environment. The targets include a first target and a second target. The first target is closer than a first threshold distance from the vehicle, and the second target is farther than the first threshold distance from the vehicle. A processor is configured to process the received radio signals. The processor is configured to selectively process the received radio signals to detect the second target. The processor selectably adjusts operational parameters of at least one of the transmitter and the receiver to discriminate between the first target and the second target.

Abstract: A system and method for processing radar signals is presented. A first transmitted radar signal is transmitted by a first transmitter using a first local oscillator signal having a first frequency. The first transmitter is coupled to a structure of a vehicle. A first received radar signal is received using a first receiver. The first received radar signal is processed using a second local oscillator signal having a second frequency to generate a processed radar signal. The second frequency is offset from the first frequency by a predetermined offset value. An output signal is generated by executing a fast Fourier transform on the processed radar signal to generate a frequency-domain output signal.

Abstract: An apparatus, fitted to a vehicle, for sensing a vehicular environment, includes acquiring with a first sensing circuit at least one first vehicular environment scene data. The first sensing circuit comprises at least one sensor, and is powered by a first power supply. A second sensing circuit is used to acquire at least one second vehicular environment scene data, and it comprises at least one sensor. The second sensing circuit is powered by a second power supply. The at least one first and second vehicular scene data is provided to a processing unit. The processing unit correspondingly determines first and second vehicular control data based on the first and second vehicular scene data. The first and second vehicular control data are each independently useable by a vehicle to automatically perform at least one safety maneuver comprising one or more of: braking; deceleration; movement to a slow lane or hard shoulder.

Abstract: A vehicular radar sensing system includes a radar sensor disposed with a field of sensing within an interior of a vehicle. The vehicular radar sensing system, responsive to processing of outputs of the plurality of receivers, detects presence of an occupant within the cabin of the vehicle.

Abstract: A radar support device supports a radar that detects an object in front of a vehicle. The radar support device includes a bracket that is mounted to the vehicle and a plurality of guide rods that extend rearward from the radar while fixed to the radar and coupled to the bracket in forward and rearward directions. A plurality of fastening members are fastened to the plurality of guide rods from a rear surface of the bracket, and one or more springs are installed between the radar and the bracket to move the radar forward.

Abstract: A mount for securing an element such as a radar transceiver on a vehicle includes a bracket securable to a vehicle bumper or other component. A cover plate is securable to the vehicle component opposite the bracket, and fasteners are extended through the cover plate and the bracket to clamp the bracket and the cover plate against opposite sides of the vehicle component, with the radar transceiver or other element located between the cover plate and a base of the bracket. An alignment arrangement may be included to permit changes to the positioning of the radar transceiver or other element between the cover plate and the base of the bracket for proper transceiver alignment. A process of securing a radar transceiver or other element on a vehicle is also described.
