摘要: A radar apparatus includes a transmitting analog front-end circuit, a plurality of antenna ports, a switching controller, a switching circuit, and a receiving analog front-end circuit. The transmitting analog front-end circuit generates a transmitting signal according to a carrier wave signal. A frequency of the carrier wave signal changes with time during a frequency sweep period of the carrier wave signal. The antenna ports are respectively configured to receive an echo signal corresponding to the transmitting signal. The switching controller is coupled to the transmitting analog front-end circuit and configured to generate a control signal according to the frequency sweep period of the carrier wave signal. The switching circuit is coupled to the antenna ports and the switching controller, configured to select one of the antenna ports to receive the echo signal according to the control signal, and coupled to the receiving analog front-end circuit.

摘要: Exemplary embodiments provide a radar apparatus having a plurality of antenna elements and enabling to reduce a number of ADCs as long as being allowable according to a bandwidth of the ADC, reduce a chip area occupied by the ADC and interconnections in an integrated circuit, and prevent a synchronization problem between the ADCs by sampling receive signals of multiple channels at once. Frequencies of local oscillation signals used for downconverting receive signals are set to be different from each other by an amount of an offset frequency, so that each of band-limited receive signals obtained through respective RF paths may occupy a different position on a frequency axis of a frequency domain. Downconverted receive signals are combined into a single signal and converted into a single digital signal stream, and a signal processing of the digital signal stream in a digital domain enables to obtain target data.

摘要: A noise-mitigated continuous-wave frequency-modulated radar includes, for example, a transmitter for generating a radar signal, a receiver for receiving a reflected radar signal and comprising a mixer for generating a baseband signal in response to the received radar signal and in response to a local oscillator (LO) signal, and a signal shifter coupled to at least one of the transmitter, LO input of the mixer in the receiver and the baseband signal generated by the mixer. The impact of amplitude noise or phase noise associated with interferers, namely, for example, strong reflections from nearby objects, and electromagnetic coupling from transmit antenna to receive antenna, on the detection of other surrounding objects is reduced by configuring the signal shifter in response to an interferer frequency and phase offset.

摘要: A method for facilitating robust radar detection comprises generating a radar signal in a digital domain along at least one transmission path, the radar signal comprises a number of M periodic repetitions of a code sequence with a length Lc, multiplied with a progressive phase rotation ej·π/K·n, where Lc and M are integers, K is an integer or a non-integer, and n is a discrete time index corresponding to a code rate. The method further comprises generating a process input signal in the digital domain along at least one receiving path from a digitized reflection signal corresponding to the radar signal by multiplying the digitized reflection signal with a progressive phase rotation e−j·π/K·n. In this context, K is defined such that a ratio Lc/2·K is a non-integer, and M is defined such that a ratio Lc·M/2·K is an integer.

摘要: A sensing system includes a first radar sensing assembly and an analysis system. The first radar sensing assembly measures plural distances to a first target location at different times using radar. The analysis system receives the plural distances from the first radar sensing assembly and quantifies movements of a target object at the first target location at the different times by calculating differences in the plural distances measured by the first radar sensing assembly. The analysis system generates one or more first quantified activity level values indicative of the movements of the target object at the first target location using the differences in the plural distances that are calculated.

摘要: A method of operating a monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) in a radar transmitter includes: sending a radio frequency (RF) signal to a power amplifier of the radar transmitter, where the power amplifier is controlled by a termination control signal, where when the termination control signal is de-asserted, the power amplifier is configured to pass the RF signal through the power amplifier for transmission by an RF antenna, where when the termination control signal is asserted, the power amplifier is configured to terminate the RF signal in the power amplifier; transmitting the RF signal by de-asserting the termination control signal; and after de-asserting the termination control signal, disabling transmission of the RF signal by: reducing a power of the RF signal; and asserting the termination control signal.

摘要: A multicarrier phase ranging system and method are provided. Generally, the method includes performing a handshake between first and a second transceiver to negotiate a list of channels and a start-time for a multicarrier phase ranging process. The process includes in a first cycle exchanging a Constant Tone (CT) between the first and second transceiver in a first epoch on a first channel, and processing the CT received in the first and second transceiver to measure a difference in phase between the CT received and a reference signal. The CT received is checked for interference using software or hardware in either or both of the first and second transceiver. If no interference is detected the first and second transceiver switch to another channel and exchange the CT at a next epoch. If interference is detected, at least one channel is skipped for at least a subsequent epoch.
