摘要: Improved optical modulation is provided in materials which are both piezoelectric and optically isotropic. This enables an acousto-optic modulator configuration with a longitudinal interaction geometry for the optical and acoustic waves which also provides a large acceptance angle. Preferably, the acoustic modulation is at a frequency that corresponds to a mechanical resonance of the modulator window.

摘要: A proportion adjustable single-photon beam splitter based on cold atom storage includes a two-dimensional magneto-optical trap for receiving a first optical signal to be split; and a coupling beam. The coupling beam is incident at a certain angle with the first optical signal to the two-dimensional magneto-optical trap. The storage time of the two-dimensional magneto-optical trap 1 can be adjusted by controlling the switching time of the coupling beam, and then adjusting a proportion of a photon number of a storage part and a photon number of a leakage part of the first optical signal. A splitting proportion may also be adjusted by controlling an optical depth of the alkali metal atomic group trapped in the two-dimensional magneto-optical trap.

摘要: An acousto-optic system may include a laser source, and an AOM coupled to the laser source and having an acousto-optic medium and transducer electrodes carried by the medium. The acousto-optic system may also include an interface board with a dielectric layer and signal contacts carried by the dielectric layer, and connections coupling respective signal contacts with respective transducer electrodes. Each connection may include a dielectric protrusion extending from the AOM, and an electrically conductive layer on the dielectric protrusion for coupling a respective transducer electrode to a respective signal contact.

摘要: Apparatus and methods for fluorescence imaging using radiofrequency multiplexed excitation. One apparatus splits an excitation laser beam into two arms of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer. The light in the first beam is frequency shifted by an acousto-optic deflector, which is driven by a phase-engineered radiofrequency comb designed to minimize peak-to-average power ratio. This RF comb generates multiple deflected optical beams possessing a range of output angles and frequency shifts. The second beam is shifted in frequency using an acousto-optic frequency shifter. After combining at a second beam splitter, the two beams are focused to a line on the sample using a conventional laser scanning microscope lens system. The acousto-optic deflectors frequency-encode the simultaneous excitation of an entire row of pixels, which enables detection and de-multiplexing of fluorescence images using a single photomultiplier tube and digital phase-coherent signal recovery techniques.

The system includes an acquisition device comprising, a network of transducers for generating a plurality of non-focussed sound waves, a light-emitting device for emitting an incident light wave and generating marked light waves comprising an acoustic-optical component that is shifted in frequency by the non-focussed sound waves, and a detector for acquiring measurement signals. The system also comprises a processing device for determining a light intensity in the observation zone from the measurement signals.
