Abstract:
A method for managing a managed forwarding element (MFE) that forwards data in a network. A network controller publishes, to the MFE, a first set of data for configuring the MFE to perform a set of forwarding operations. The network controller collects, from the MFE, a second set of data regarding current operational state of the MFE. The network controller identifies a difference between a desired operational state of the MFE maintained by the network controller and the collected current operational state of the MFE. Based on the identified difference, the network controller publishes a new third set of data for configuring the MFE to adjust the current operational state of the MFE to the desired state.
Abstract:
A switching system includes a content-addressable memory (CAM) and several processing nodes. The CAM can be selectively connected to any one or more of the processing nodes during operation of the switching system, without having to power down or otherwise reboot the switching system. The CAM is selectively connected to a processing node in that electrical paths between the CAM and the processing nodes can be established, torn down, and re-established during operation of the switching system. The switching system can include a connection matrix to selectively establish electrical paths between the CAM and the processing nodes.
Abstract:
An on-board network system includes a plurality of controllers connected to a bus, a detecting unit that detects an error that occurs , a measuring unit that measures a degree of error occurrence detected by the detecting unit, and a communication controller that reduces a communication speed and a communication data amount of at least one of the controllers from a first speed and a first data amount to a second speed and a second data amount, when the error occurrence degree becomes equal to or larger than a first degree. The communication controller reduces the communication speed and the communication data amount, such that a first communication time it takes for data to be transmitted at the first speed in the first data amount is longer than a second communication time it takes for data to be transmitted at the second speed in the second data amount.
Abstract:
Data are maintained in a distributed computing system that describe a graph. The graph represents relationships among items. The graph has a plurality of vertices that represent the items and a plurality of edges connecting the plurality of vertices. At least one vertex of the plurality of vertices includes a set of label values indicating the at least one vertex's strength of association with a label from a set of labels. The set of labels describe possible characteristics of an item represented by the at least one vertex. At least one edge of the plurality of edges includes a set of label weights for influencing label values that traverse the at least one edge. A label propagation algorithm is executed for a plurality of the vertices in the graph in parallel for a series of synchronized iterations to propagate labels through the graph.
Abstract:
A method and system for detecting congestion in a network of nodes, abating the network congestion, and identifying the cause of the network congestion is provided. A congestion detection system may comprise a detection system, an abatement system, and a causation system. The detection system monitors the performance of network components such as the network interface controllers and tiles of routers to determine whether the network is congested such that a delay in delivering packets becomes unacceptable. Upon detecting that the network is congested, an abatement system abates the congestion by limiting the rate at which packets are injected into the network from the nodes. Upon detecting that the network is congested, a causation system may identify the job that is executing on a node that is the cause of the network congestion.
Abstract:
A control system including several controllers for managing several switching elements. A first controller registers a second controller for receiving a notification when a data tuple changes in a network information base (NIB) storage of the first controller that stores data for managing a set of switching elements. The first controller changes the data tuple in the NIB. The first controller sends the notification to the second controller of the change to the data tuple in the NIB. The first and second controllers operate on two different computing devices. Each controller receives logical control plane data for specifying logical datapath sets and converts the logical control plane data to physical control plane data for enabling the switching elements to implement the logical datapath sets.

Abstract:
Some embodiments provide a system that includes a set of network controllers for receiving definitions of first and second logical switching elements. The system includes several managed switching elements. The set of network controllers configure the several managed switching elements to implement the defined first and second logical switching elements. The system includes several network hosts that are each (1) communicatively coupled to one of the several managed switching elements and (2) associated with one of the first and second logical switching elements. Network data communicated between network hosts associated with the first logical switching element are isolated from network data communicated between network hosts associated with the second logical switching element.
Abstract:
A network control system that includes several controllers for managing several switching elements. Each controller includes a network information base (NIB) storage that stores data regarding the switching elements and a secondary storage for facilitating replication of at least a portion of data across the NIB storages of the different controllers. In some embodiments, the primary purpose for one or more of the secondary storage structures is to back up the data in the NIB. In these or other embodiments, one or more of the secondary storage structures serve a purpose other than backing up the data in the NIB. In some embodiments, the NIB is stored in system memory while the system operates for fast access of the NIB records. In some embodiments, one or more of the secondary storage structures are stored on disks which can be slower to access.
Abstract:
Data are maintained in a distributed computing system that describe a directed graph representing relationships among items. The directed graph has a plurality of vertices representing the items and has edges with values representing distances between the items connected by the vertices. A multiple reference point algorithm is executed for a plurality of the vertices in the directed graph in parallel for a series of synchronized iterations to determine shortest distances between the vertices and the source vertex. After executing the algorithm on the vertices, value pairs associated with the vertices are aggregated. The aggregated value pairs indicate shortest distances from the respective vertices to the source vertex. The aggregated value pairs are outputted.
