    摘要: A magnetic storage system having one or more rotating disks is disclosed. In a preferred embodiment, each rotating disk has two magnetic surfaces which each contain a number of tracks. Each track has one or more data regions and one or more embedded servo sectors. First and second transducers are respectively suspended over first and second tracks corresponding to first and second magnetic surfaces. The second transducer determines an off-track position with respect to the second track by reading from the data region of the second track. Once the off-track position is determined for the second transducer, that information is used to position the first transducer with respect to the first track and position the second transducer with respect to the second track as the first transducer writes to the first track. Furthermore, the first transducer is positioned at a correction rate that exceeds the rate at which the first transducer encounters embedded servo sectors in the first track. As a result, the first transducer reduces or avoids flying-blind as it writes to the disk.

In storing the information on the recording medium, a write current is varied in quantity more smaller for a more inner track and more larger for a more outer track. The current to flow to a write coil is controlled by selecting one of a plurality of current-mirror output-side transistors through which the current may flow. This selecting is performed by a track counter which realizes a storage track by counting a string of count signals corresponding to the location of the track.

    摘要: The present invention decreases the number of repositions during read back by making use of multiple read elements associated with each data track. Each of a plurality of sets of read electronics receives the read signal from either one or the other of the two read elements associated with each data track and converts the received read signal into read data. For each data track, control logic selects one of the two read elements as a source for output data. In response to a determination that a read error has occurred, the control logic selects the other of the two read elements as the source for output data. For each data track, one read element is offset relative to the other read element in an offset direction normal to the tape direction.
